JOB PURPOSE / MANDATE
The Technical Analyst is part of the elseco Energy Underwriting Team in Dubai. He/She supports the Energy Underwriters and Client Advocates through a combination of technical analysis, underwriting support, data management, reporting, and operational activities.
The Technical Analyst is responsible for maintaining the integrity of underwriting data, supporting portfolio analysis, ensuring the timely processing of underwriting documentation, and contributing to the continuous improvement of underwriting systems and processes. The role liaises closely with Underwriters, Client Advocates, Brokers, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and Technology teams.
The Technical Analyst reports to the Head of Energy and is based in Dubai.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor, review, and coordinate the processing of underwriting information and report progress during underwriting meetings.
- Participate in weekly underwriting review meetings and provide analytical and operational support to the underwriting team.
- Ensure underwriting databases and risk management systems are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
- Assist underwriters in processing all contract documentation accurately and within agreed timelines.
- Verify underwriting subjectivities and conduct database checks to support underwriting decisions.
- Upon receipt of policy documentation, ensure policies are booked accurately within the Policy Operating System or any designated underwriting system.
- Support Client Advocates and Underwriters in managing and reporting country, regional, and portfolio aggregates, including data entry into aggregation control systems and quality control of associated information.
- Generate reports, management information (MI), portfolio analyses, and underwriting statistics from the Policy Operating System, ATOM 3.0, or any designated reporting platform.
- Monitor the quality and integrity of underwriting data and maintain logs of exceptions, data quality issues, and compliance-related matters.
- Contribute to portfolio analysis, risk accumulation monitoring, exposure reporting, and underwriting performance reviews.
- Act as a source of ideas for improving underwriting processes, reporting capabilities, data quality, and operational efficiency, and support implementation of approved initiatives.
- Serve as a key user of ATOM 3.0 and other underwriting systems, liaising with Technology and Operations teams regarding system enhancements, upgrades, testing, and issue resolution.
- Support ad hoc projects, research assignments, business improvement initiatives, and strategic projects assigned by the Head of Energy and underwriting management.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Degree educated in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil or process engineering)
- 2 - 3 years of relevant experience in engineering, underwriting support, insurance operations, portfolio analysis, risk analysis, energy insurance, or a related analytical role or experience as a loss adjuster with relevant technical expertise
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, with a strong interest in data analysis, reporting, automation, and technology-enabled processes.
- Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively.
