Technical Coordinator / Structural Engineer
Overview:
The Technical Coordinator (Structural Engineer) plays a key role in coordinating the structural design process, ensuring that all engineering, architectural, and construction elements are aligned to deliver high-quality, safe, and efficient building or infrastructure projects. This role bridges the gap between design and construction teams, managing technical documentation, reviewing structural drawings, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate structural design activities between consultants, architects, contractors, and other disciplines.
- Review and comment on structural drawings, calculations, and specifications to ensure design integrity and constructability.
- Manage and track technical documentation, RFIs, and design changes throughout project lifecycle.
- Ensure designs comply with local codes, standards (e.g., Eurocodes, ACI, BS, ASCE), and project requirements.
- Provide technical support to site teams and resolve structural or coordination issues during construction.
- Participate in design and coordination meetings; maintain up-to-date project records.
- Liaise with BIM teams to verify model accuracy and ensure structural information is properly integrated.
- Support value engineering and constructability reviews to optimize design solutions.
- Assist in preparing project schedules, progress reports, and technical submissions.
- Conduct site inspections to verify structural works are executed according to approved designs and specifications.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (PE/CEng or equivalent) registration preferred.
- 38 years of experience in structural design and/or coordination (depending on role level).
- Strong understanding of structural systems (RC, steel, composite, etc.) and construction methods.
- Experience with design software (e.g., ETABS, STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, Revit, AutoCAD).
- Familiarity with BIM coordination processes and document control systems (e.g., Aconex, Procore).
- Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
