Technical Director

We're building a scalable social and lifestyle platform connecting consumers and businesses across Saudi Arabia. We're looking for a TechDirector to own technical execution, scale the platform, and lead a growing engineering team across backend, web, and mobile.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role for someone comfortable owning architecture, delivery, and people and wearing multiple hats, including coding when needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead and scale engineering teams across backend, frontend, mobile, and QA.
- Own platform architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Oversee development of web and mobile applications with shared logic and consistent delivery.
- Drive backend systems built on stateless services designed for horizontal scaling.
- Own secure, high-throughput media pipelines and global content delivery strategies.
- Establish engineering standards, CI/CD practices, observability, and operational readiness.
- Partner closely with founders to align technical execution with business goals.
- Ensure platform security and compliance with relevant Saudi data and platform regulations.
- Step in hands-on: prototype, review critical code, unblock teams, and contribute directly when needed.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years in engineering leadership.
- Strong backend experience designing scalable APIs and distributed systems.
- Solid experience delivering web and mobile applications in production.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure, load balancing, auto-scaling, and CDN-based delivery.
- Comfortable owning media-heavy platforms (uploads, storage, delivery, optimization).
- Proven ability to hire, mentor, and lead senior engineers.
- Startup mindset: adaptable, fast-moving, and comfortable with ambiguity and switching priorities.
- Fluent in Arabic and English
