Position Summary:
- Monitor the development, coordination, and approval of the shop drawings/ materials/ method statements, and all necessary requirements for execution the works in site, considering the project's specifications, and the cost effect.
- Ensure the full coordination with all trades, to develop proper shop drawings, considering the construction real sequence, and all other trades interface.
Job Purpose
The Technical Manager is responsible for leading and managing all technical, engineering, design coordination, and construction-related technical activities across assigned projects. The role ensures that designs, drawings, specifications, materials, and construction methodologies are technically compliant, coordinated, cost-effective, and delivered in accordance with approved project schedules, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Management
- Lead and manage all technical activities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review and coordinate architectural, structural, MEP, infrastructure, and specialist design requirements.
- Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, codes, standards, and authority requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Resolve technical issues and provide timely engineering solutions.
Design & Engineering Coordination
- Review design drawings, shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, and technical submissions.
- Coordinate between design consultants, project teams, subcontractors, and specialist contractors.
- Identify design clashes, discrepancies, and constructability issues.
- Lead design review meetings and ensure timely closure of technical comments.
- Support value engineering and design optimization initiatives.
Construction Support
- Provide technical support to construction and site teams.
- Review construction methodologies and ensure technical feasibility.
- Monitor site execution against approved drawings and specifications.
- Assist in resolving RFIs, technical queries, NCRs, and site-related technical challenges.
- Ensure construction activities align with approved design intent and project requirements.
Project Planning & Coordination
- Coordinate technical deliverables in line with project milestones and construction schedules.
- Monitor design, approvals, material submissions, and technical documentation.
- Identify technical risks and potential delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Coordinate with project management, procurement, commercial, quality, and construction teams.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure technical works comply with project specifications, approved designs, authority regulations, and international standards.
- Support QA/QC teams in resolving technical issues.
- Review and approve technical documentation within delegated authority.
- Maintain proper records of design changes, approvals, and technical decisions.
Stakeholder & Consultant Management
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for consultants, clients, authorities, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Attend technical meetings and provide expert advice.
- Manage technical coordination with consultants and specialist contractors.
- Ensure timely responses to technical queries and approvals.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop technical and engineering team members.
- Allocate responsibilities and monitor team performance.
- Promote technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure effective communication between technical, construction, and project management teams.
