Role Description The Technical Office and Estimation Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in 6th of October. The role involves reviewing tender documents and project specifications, preparing detailed technical and commercial offers, and estimating material quantities, fabrication costs, and installation requirements for steel doors, frames, and windows. The engineer will issue shop drawings, coordinate with production and installation teams, and ensure that designs comply with relevant standards, certificates, and client requirements. Day-to-day tasks include preparing BOQs, updating cost databases, responding to client technical inquiries, and supporting project managers with accurate technical documentation. The role also requires maintaining organized records of estimates, drawings, and approvals, and collaborating with quality and procurement teams to optimize cost and performance.

Qualifications

  • Solid technical background in mechanical, civil, or architectural engineering, preferably with experience in sheet metal or steel door and window manufacturing.
  • Strong skills in technical drawings and design tools (e.g., AutoCAD or similar CAD software) for preparing shop drawings and layout details.
  • Experience in estimation and costing, including quantity take-offs, BOQ preparation, and cost analysis for fabrication and installation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, tender documents, specifications, and international standards related to fire-rated and non-fire-rated products.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity software (e.g., MS Excel, Word, and Outlook) for documentation, reporting, and data management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in calculations and technical reviews.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with technical office, production, quality, and sales teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Architectural, or related field); prior experience in a similar technical office or estimation role is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of fire-rating standards and certification processes (e.g., Intertek or similar) is a plus.
  • Ability to work on-site in 6th of October and manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
