Role Description The Technical Office Head (Civil) is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt, responsible for overseeing all technical office activities for civil projects. The role includes managing the preparation, review, and approval of designs, shop drawings, and technical submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications, codes, and client requirements. The Technical Office Head coordinates with project managers, site engineers, and consultants to resolve technical issues, optimize designs, and support efficient project delivery. Daily tasks involve supervising quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and value engineering proposals, as well as monitoring documentation, reports, and project records. The role also includes leading and mentoring the technical office team, providing guidance, implementing standards, and supporting continuous improvement in processes and quality.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to review designs, interpret drawings, perform quantity take-offs, and assess technical and cost implications.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating with project stakeholders, coordinating with site teams and consultants, and preparing clear technical reports and presentations.
- Technical support capabilities in civil engineering, including resolving site and design issues, ensuring adherence to standards, and providing technical guidance to project teams.
- Proven team management skills, with experience leading technical office staff, delegating tasks, monitoring performance, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
- Experience in training team members, sharing best practices, and supporting professional development within the technical office.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field; professional certifications or postgraduate studies in civil engineering or project management are an advantage.
- Solid experience in technical office work for civil construction projects, including design review, shop drawings, and coordination with site execution.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering and design software (e.g., AutoCAD, civil design tools) and strong MS Office skills.
- Knowledge of local and international building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to civil works.
