Our client an international fragrance house born out of Grasse is looking at a Technical Perfumer to join their growing fragrance team in the UAE.

Job Location: Sharjah, UAE

Role Overview:

Technical Perfumer with strong expertise in GCMS analysis to join our clients fragrance development team. The ideal candidate will combine perfumery knowledge with analytical capabilities to decode fragrances, support fragrance development, and ensure quality consistency across formulations. This role will work closely with perfumers, evaluators, and the R&D team to analyse fragrance compositions and assist in fragrance creation and matching.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform GCMS (Gas ChromatographyMass Spectrometry) analysis to decode fragrance compositions and identify key aroma chemicals.
  • Support fragrance matching.
  • Assist perfumers in reformulating fragrances based on analytical data and olfactory evaluation.
  • Interpret chromatograms and mass spectra to identify raw materials and fragrance structures.
  • Maintain and update GCMS libraries and fragrance databases for reference and formulation support.
  • Collaborate with R&D, regulatory, and quality teams to ensure formulations comply with IFRA and regulatory standards.
  • Conduct quality checks and batch comparisons using GCMS to ensure fragrance consistency.
  • Assist in troubleshooting fragrance stability and performance issues in applications such as fine fragrance, personal care, and home care products.
  • Maintain documentation of analytical results, formulations, and project records.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Perfumery, Cosmetic Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in fragrance analysis, perfumery support, or fragrance R&D.
  • Strong hands-on experience with GCMS operation, data interpretation, and fragrance analysis.
  • Strong olfactory skills and understanding of fragrance accords.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with fine fragrance, personal care, or home care fragrance applications.
  • Experience in fragrance formulation or technical perfumery
  • Strong understanding of fragrance raw materials and formulation principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
