Maryam Shipmanagement DMCC (part of TMC Group, a Dubai-based maritime group) is a dynamic and growing ship management company established by experienced professionals in the shipping industry.

With offices in Dubai, Athens, Geneva, Connecticut, Delhi, and Manila, we manage a fleet of tankers and dry bulk vessels and provide 24/7 Technical and Commercial Management services.

We are expanding our shore-based technical team and are looking for a hands-on, commercially aware Technical Superintendent to take full ownership of an assigned fleet.

Role Description

This is an excellent full-time, on-site opportunity, with a leading global Shipmanagement company based in Dubai, UAE. Reporting to the Technical Manager, you will be responsible for the full technical and operational management of your assigned vessels. This includes day-to-day maintenance, repairs, drydockings, budgets, surveys, certifications, and flag/class compliance.

You will act as the primary link between ship and shore and play a key role in driving safety, performance and cost control across the fleet.

 

What You Will Be Doing

  • Full technical management of assigned vessels including maintenance, repairs, budgeting and certification.
  • Plan and execute drydockings and major repairs within budget and agreed timelines.
  • Prepare vessels for PSC, Flag State, RightShip and third-party inspections together with the Marine Superintendent.
  • Ensure all statutory and class certificates are valid and renewal planning is in place.
  • Prepare and control annual budgets with close monitoring of expenditure.
  • Work closely with procurement to secure cost-effective and timely supply of spares and services.
  • Monitor vessel performance against charter party requirements and company targets.
  • Maintain and update the SMS in line with regulatory changes and operational feedback.
  • Handle P&I and insurance cases in coordination with vessel teams.
  • Conduct vessel visits and issue clear, practical inspection reports with follow-up actions.
  • Brief and guide Senior Officers on company expectations and performance standards.
  • Carry out Senior Officer appraisals and support their development.
  • Participate in the Emergency Response Team when required.

 

What We Are Looking For

  • Strong dry bulk and/or tanker experience with solid understanding of PSC, Class and Flag requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with drydockings, PMS and major repairs.
  • Good control of budgets and a disciplined commercial mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills able to manage relationships with Masters, Chief Engineers, owners and suppliers.
  • Based in Dubai or willing to relocate, with willingness to travel on short notice for vessel attendance.

  • Strong knowledge of Maritime industry regulations and standards, problem-solving skills and ability to make quick, informed decisions in complex situations

Qualifications

  • Education in Marine Engineering, Dual Purpose, or a related field.
  • Prior sailing experience on commercial vessels is a requirement.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience, progressing to the rank of Chief Engineer with at least 1 year in this role.
  • At least 3 years of previous experience as a Technical Superintendent and with OSV (Offshore Support Vessels).
  • Good general IT knowledge and English fluency.
  • Relevant maritime or engineering certifications and qualifications.
