Functions
Responsible for providing technical support to vessels assigned to enable reliable and efficient operation. For the vessels assigned under direct charge, the technical superintendent is accountable for:
- Operate and maintain the ship marine equipment in a safe, economic, and efficient way in accordance with customer contract /Charter Party, within approved budgets, to the satisfaction of both owners and their clients.
- Maintenance, operational performance, and reliability, of all equipment and machinery on the vessel.
- Approval of purchases in accordance with Company Authority Matrix.
- Effective rectifications/closures to maintenance related nonconformities and deficiencies.
- Overall performance of the vessel.

Tasks
Tasks Shall Include But Not Be Limited To
- Responsible for the technical management and performance of the vessels (including well intervention equipment), incl. technical budget.
- On shore contact point for the Vessels in the day-to-day operation related to technical management and mobilization activities. Contact with Owner in the day-to-day operation, as defined and agreed with the Fleet Manager.
- Monitor, ensure and verify that the vessels operate in accordance with relevant Laws and Regulations.
- Ensure that Statutory and Classification surveys for all plants and equipment on the vessels are carried out.
- Ensure preventive- and corrective maintenance is carried out to prevent technical / operational non-conformities that may lead to downtime.
- Contribute to continued improvement of the maintenance system by providing feedback to the Fleet Manager.
- Monitor and follow-up the vessel's technical performance and defined KPIs. Take immediate actions to adjust and improve performance in case of non-conformities or when deviations are observed/reported. Follow-up and ensure corrective actions are implemented in case of technical related incidents and non-conformities. Analyze breakdown and technical incidents and suggest experience transfers to the fleet.
- Report vessel technical status on weekly basis to the Fleet Manager.
- Responsible for the planning, coordination and supervision of ship repair and dry-docking of vessels, in cooperation with other stakeholders.
- If any major breakdown occurs, make sure to arrange repairs, provide spares and service engineers. Supervise the repair work as needed to ensure safe work, best quality, and cost-effective process. If insurance is involved, contact, inform and follow up until settlement in coordination with Fleet Manager and Owners.
- Take the lead to carry out Vessel Condition Assessments in cooperation with Owners.
- Participate in appraisals of key personnel onboard the vessel.
- Comply with the requirements in Vessel Management System and report non-conformities.
KPIs
- Formulating long term maintenance plans, and tracking maintenance in accordance with makers maintenance schedules and the PMS
- Performing senior Officer Performance Appraisals, mentoring of staff, and carrying out briefings
- Planning and managing under the guidance of fleet manager, refits, maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, conversions, or modifications.
- Assisting crewing department in the selection of engineer officers
- Preparing detailed refit specifications for allocated vessels
