Job Summary
The Tendering and Procurement Electrical Engineer is responsible for preparing cost-effective, technically compliant electrical tenders and managing the procurement of electrical materials and equipment for various projects. This role ensures competitive pricing, vendor selection, and timely delivery of all electrical systems while maintaining quality standards and aligning with project schedules.
Tendering
Key Responsibilities
- Review tender documents including drawings, specifications, and BOQs.
- Conduct site visits (if required) to understand the scope of work.
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to prepare technical and commercial proposals.
- Prepare quantity take-offs and cost estimates for electrical systems (LV, MV, lighting, power, cabling, earthing, etc.).
- Solicit and analyze quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with client requirements and applicable standards.
Procurement
- Identify reliable suppliers and evaluate vendor capabilities.
- Prepare purchase requests, purchase orders, and ensure timely approvals.
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Ensure procured materials comply with project specifications and standards.
- Track and manage procurement schedules to align with project timelines.
- Maintain records and documentation related to procurement activities.
Qualifications And Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of experience in tendering and/or procurement within the construction, MEP, or contracting industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems and products used in building services.
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office Suite, and estimation/procurement software (e.g., CCS, Oracle, SAP).
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
