Job Description

Job Purpose:

To prepare and manage tenders for MEP works in fountains and pools projects, ensuring accurate cost estimation, compliance with project specifications, and competitive bidding. The role requires a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems critical to water features, as well as the ability to identify tender items costs and evaluate brand differences for optimal project outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Tender Preparation:

Review project specifications and requirements for MEP works in fountains and pools, focusing on mechanical systems (pumps, filtration, circulation), electrical systems (lighting, controls), and plumbing systems (piping, water supply, drainage).

Develop comprehensive tender documents, including detailed specifications for MEP components, bills of quantities, and method statements tailored to water feature installations.

Coordinate with design teams to ensure all MEP requirements for fountains and pools are accurately represented in the tender.

2. Cost Estimation:

Estimate costs for MEP works, including specialized equipment such as pumps, filters, lighting, control systems, and piping for fountains and pools.

Analyze market prices for MEP components and materials specific to water features to ensure competitive pricing.

Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining the quality, functionality, and safety of the MEP systems.

3. Vendor and Supplier Management:

Research and select appropriate vendors and suppliers for MEP components used in fountains and pools, considering factors such as brand reputation, quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.

Ensures that specified brands and models meet the project's technical requirements and standards for water features.

4. Technical Compliance and Standards:

Ensure that all tender documents comply with relevant standards and regulations for MEP works in water features, including safety, environmental, water quality, and electrical standards.

Stay updated on industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory changes affecting MEP systems in fountains and pools.

5. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Identify potential risks associated with the tender, such as technical challenges with MEP installations, cost overruns, or compliance issues, and propose mitigation strategies.

Ensure that the tender includes provisions for risk management specific to MEP works in water features, such as redundancy in critical systems or contingency planning.

6. Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate and detailed records of tender submissions, communications, and outcomes, with a focus on MEP-related aspects.

Prepare comprehensive reports on tender performance, including lessons learned and recommendations for improving future tenders for MEP works in fountains and pools.

7. Collaboration and Communication:

Work closely with project managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive and successful tender submission, particularly regarding MEP specifications and requirements.

Provide expert support during the tender evaluation and negotiation phases, advocating for the company's capabilities in delivering high-quality MEP works for fountains and pools.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.

- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in tendering or estimating for construction projects, with a strong focus on MEP works.

- Proven experience in tendering for fountains and pools projects or similar water feature installations is highly desirable.

- In-depth knowledge of MEP systems, particularly in the context of fountains and pools, including water circulation, filtration, lighting, control systems, and plumbing.

- Proficiency in cost estimation software, project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.

- Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.

- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.

Desired Skills and Competencies:

- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and standards related to fountains and pools, such as those from ASHRAE, NFPA, or municipal water authorities.

- Experience with designing or specifying MEP systems for water features.

- Strong understanding of water treatment and sanitation systems for pools and fountains.

- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and engineering documents related to MEP works.

- Proven track record of successfully securing projects through competitive tendering processes.
