Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Principal / Senior Engineer – Semiconductor Test Engineering to support the development, qualification and manufacturing release of automotive semiconductor products.

The role will drive test engineering activities throughout the product lifecycle, from new product introduction (NPI) and silicon characterisation to manufacturing ramp-up and high-volume production. Working closely with product engineering teams, outsourced semiconductor assembly and test providers (OSATs), and manufacturing partners, the successful candidate will help ensure robust test solutions, reliable product quality, efficient production processes and competitive manufacturing costs.

Candidates with hands-on ATE test development experience, particularly on the Advantest V93000 (V93K) platform, and experience supporting automotive semiconductor products from NPI through mass production are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Development & Product Industrialisation

  • Lead the transfer of wafer sort (CP), burn-in and final test (FT) solutions from product development into manufacturing.
  • Develop, debug, qualify, release and maintain ATE test programmes for high-volume production.
  • Support silicon bring-up, electrical characterisation, test correlation and production validation.
  • Improve test coverage, multi-site testing efficiency, test execution time and overall production readiness.
  • Qualify and maintain test hardware, including probe cards, load boards, burn-in boards and test sockets.

2. OSAT & Manufacturing Support

  • Act as the technical point of contact for outsourced semiconductor test and burn-in operations.
  • Support qualification builds, production ramp-up, manufacturing transfers and ongoing product support.
  • Work with OSAT partners and suppliers to investigate and resolve test-related technical issues and production challenges.
  • Drive improvements in manufacturing yield, product quality, testing efficiency and cost performance.
  • Monitor manufacturing performance and support corrective actions where test or production issues arise.

3. Product Engineering & Quality Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Engineering on silicon characterisation, product qualification, yield improvement and production release.
  • Establish and review test limits, screening approaches and production release criteria.
  • Support NPI activities, reliability qualification and product or process change management.
  • Analyse test and production data to identify failure trends, improve product quality and strengthen manufacturability.
  • Provide technical recommendations to support product performance and manufacturing decisions.

Key Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's or postgraduate qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Semiconductor Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant semiconductor experience for Senior Engineer or 8 years for Principal Engineer, preferably in Test Engineering or Product Engineering.
  • Experience developing, qualifying and releasing semiconductor test solutions for high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting or managing semiconductor test operations with OSAT partners.
  • Practical knowledge of ATE software and hardware, test development and manufacturing test processes.

Essential Technical Focus

  • Hands-on semiconductor ATE test engineering experience, including test-program development, debugging, characterisation and production support.
  • Strong familiarity with the Advantest V93000 (V93K) and SmarTest environment.
  • Understanding of wafer sort, burn-in and final-test processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot test-related issues and support test-program optimisation, qualification and production release.

Preferred Technical Experience

  • Development and maintenance of test hardware, including probe cards, load boards and burn-in boards.
  • Silicon characterisation, test correlation, shmoo analysis, yield improvement and failure analysis.
  • OSAT qualification, manufacturing transfers, production ramp-up and high-volume manufacturing support.
  • Test coverage enhancement, test-time reduction, multi-site optimisation and manufacturing cost improvement.
  • Test data analysis, statistical methods and data-driven problem-solving.
  • Exposure to automotive semiconductor quality and reliability requirements.

Personal Attributes

  • Hands-on engineer with strong technical ownership and accountability.
  • Analytical and methodical in investigating complex engineering problems.
  • Effective communicator who can collaborate with engineering, product and manufacturing teams across different locations and cultures.
  • Adaptable, proactive and comfortable working in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
  • Able to balance technical problem-solving with production quality, efficiency and delivery objectives.

Travel Requirement

  • Willingness to travel internationally to support suppliers, manufacturing partners and technical operations when required.
