Job Summary
The Tourism Operations Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and overseeing all tourism-related operations to ensure high-quality service delivery, customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and profitability. This role manages daily tour operations, staff supervision, supplier coordination, budgeting, compliance, and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Management
- Plan, implement, and manage day-to-day tourism activities and tour operations.
- Ensure all tours, excursions, and travel services run smoothly and efficiently.
- Develop operational schedules and allocate resources effectively.
- Monitor service standards and resolve operational issues promptly.
- Ensure customer safety and risk management protocols are followed.
2. Staff Management & Leadership
- Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate tour guides, drivers, and operational staff.
- Develop staff schedules and performance standards.
- Conduct regular team meetings and training sessions.
- Foster a positive, customer-focused team culture.
- Handle employee grievances and disciplinary actions when necessary.
3. Customer Service & Experience
- Ensure exceptional customer experiences from booking to tour completion.
- Handle customer complaints and resolve service issues.
- Monitor guest feedback and implement improvements.
- Maintain strong client relationships (individuals, travel agents, corporate clients).
4. Financial & Budget Management
- Prepare operational budgets and control costs.
- Monitor revenue, expenses, and profit margins.
- Approve supplier payments and manage invoices.
- Analyze financial reports and recommend improvements.
- Develop pricing strategies for tours and services.
5. Supplier & Vendor Management
- Negotiate contracts with hotels, transport providers, restaurants, and activity providers.
- Maintain strong relationships with local partners and service providers.
- Ensure quality control of outsourced services.
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly.
6. Marketing & Business Development Support
- Collaborate with marketing teams to promote tourism packages.
- Assist in designing new tour packages and travel experiences.
- Identify market trends and customer demands.
- Participate in trade fairs and tourism expos.
- Develop partnerships with travel agencies and online platforms.
7. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with local tourism regulations and licensing requirements.
- Maintain safety standards and emergency procedures.
- Monitor insurance coverage and liability requirements.
- Conduct risk assessments for tours and destinations.
8. Reporting & Administration
- Prepare operational reports for senior management.
- Maintain accurate records of bookings, operations, and financial transactions.
- Analyze operational KPIs and performance metrics.
- Use tourism management software and booking systems effectively.
