Job Purpose:
To plan, design, and manage transportation systems and traffic flow to ensure safe and efficient movement within the city of Riyadh. This includes preparing Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), designing intersections, analyzing field data, and coordinating with relevant government entities (such as the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, Riyadh Municipality, and the Ministry of Transport).
Key Responsibilities:
- Traffic Impact Studies (TIS): Prepare and review traffic impact studies for new development projects (commercial, residential, and administrative) and estimate trip generation.
- Modeling and Simulation: Utilize specialized software for traffic simulation (Micro & Macro Simulation) to evaluate current and future network performance.
- Public Transport Integration: Contribute to integrating major public transport projects (such as the Riyadh Metro and Bus network) with the surrounding road infrastructure.
- Engineering Design: Design intersections, roundabouts, and parking entry/exit points; determine the placement of directional signage and road markings according to the Saudi Road Code.
- Traffic Safety Analysis: Study accident causes at Black Spots and propose engineering solutions to enhance safety levels.
- Parking Management: Design and organize vehicle parking areas and pedestrian flow within major urban projects.
- Governmental Coordination: Obtain necessary permits and follow up on approvals with competent authorities (Municipality, RCRC, MOT).
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (Specialization in Transportation/Traffic Engineering) or equivalent. (Master's degree is a plus).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in traffic engineering, preferably with previous experience in projects within the city of Riyadh.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in the following tools:
VISSIM / VISUM.
- Synchro / Sim Traffic.
- HCS (Highway Capacity Software).
- AutoCAD / Civil 3D.
- Standards Knowledge: Full familiarity with the Saudi Road Design Manual and the Saudi Building Code (SBC).
- Languages: Fluency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken).
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and complex engineering problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills for negotiating with developers and government agencies.
- Ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict timelines for mega-projects.
