Job Description

Trainer - Aviation Engineering (Avionics B2)

As an avionics trainer, you are responsible to the senior manager-aviation training for the following responsibilities:

Deliver Instruction:

  • Provide the required mechanical instruction to students, in accordance with DGCA KCASR Part-66, GCAA CAR-66, and EASA Part-66 learning outcomes and the approved curriculum / training package.
  • Develop and maintain the required lesson plans / instructor notes / student notes and student handouts.

Student Revision:

  • Provide one hour of revision to students every morning, between 08:00 am and 09:00 am.

Conduct Assessment:

  • Conduct theory examinations and practical assessments with students, in accordance with the approved curriculum / training package.

Archiving and Retention of Student Records:

  • Ensure that after each module of instruction, the correct and required documentation is handed to the administration officer for archiving and retention of student records.

Development of Training Resources:

  • Maintain and develop current / new training aids, lesson plans, student notes, student resources, and student handouts.
  • Maintain and develop current / new practical assessments.

Student Progression:

  • Monitor student progression during their module of instruction and training and report any inconsistencies to the Senior Manager-Aviation Training, which will intervene as required and provide the necessary and required remediation for the student(s) in question.

Training Improvement:

  • Initiate training improvement suggestions to the training manager with regard to training deficiencies.
  • Liaise with the Senior Manager—Aviation Training in the event of any extra resources required or identified for the module(s) of instruction on hand.

Program Development:

  • Assist the Senior Manager-Aviation Training with the development of the training program and assessment tools for both theoretical examinations and practical assessments.

Training Administration:

  • Compile module and student reports at the end of each module of instruction.
  • Take daily student attendance at the start of each lesson.
  • Complete assessment sheets and the student's Journal of Experience (JOE) after each module of instruction for both theory and practical assessments.
  • The JOE must be completed at the end of each module of instruction before the students start with their next module of instruction.
  • Liaise with the Workshop / Hangar Co-ordinator to ensure that the Mechanical Technical Assistant is available for practical assessments and to ensure that all materials and components required for practical assessments have been identified and ordered.
  • The ordering of material and components required for practical assessments must be done well in advance and before the start of the next semester.

External and Internal Audits:

  • Support the Senior Manager—Aviation Training and Quality Manager with the implementation of corrective actions on audit findings made during external EASA, DGCA, GCAA, and internal audits on AU.
  • Support the Senior Manager—Aviation Training and Quality Manager with the implementation and upholding of EASA, DGCA, and GCAA rules and regulations.

Examination Question Bank - Module Examinations:

  • Support the chief examiner with the compilation, referencing, and validation of the examination questions / answers with regard to your module(s) of instruction.
  • Support the chief examiner as invigilator during phase and module examinations, where you are not involved in instruction of that particular module.
  • Support the Senior Manager-Aviation Training as a practical assessor when you are not involved in your own module of instruction.

Examination Question Bank - Phase Examinations:

  • Support the chief examiner with the compilation, referencing, and validation of the examination questions and answers with regard to your module(s) of instruction.

Module and Phase Examinations:

  • Support the chief examiner as invigilator during phase and module examinations, where you are not involved in the instruction of that particular module.
  • Support the Senior Manager-Aviation Training as a practical assessor when you are not involved in your own module(s) of instruction.
  • Support the chief examiner with the attendance figure of students who qualify to sit the formative / module examinations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Category B2—License holder.
  • Training and assessment qualifications relevant to the position.
  • Relevant training experience.
  • Industrial experience working on aircraft.
  • EASA Form 4 Holder.
  • Sound knowledge of EASA Part-66/145/147 rules and regulations.
  • Experience in preparing vocational assessments.
  • Ability to design, develop, and deliver training materials.

Qualifications:

  • Category B2—License holder.
