Role Description
The HR Training Specialist is responsible for the growth engine of the company. You will design, deliver, and track training programs that turn our employees into high performers. Your scope ranges from the critical First 90 Days (Onboarding) to continuous upskilling and leadership development.
Crucially, this is a role for a flexible team player. We operate as a lean, agile HR unit. While your primary focus is Learning & Development (L&D), we do not work in silos. If the Recruitment team is overwhelmed or a major company event is happening, you are expected to roll up your sleeves and help. You are an HR professional first, and a Trainer second.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Training & Onboarding (Primary Focus)
- Training Needs Analysis (TNA): Work with department heads to identify skill gaps. (e.g., The Sales team is great at closing but bad at negotiation - let's build a workshop for that.)
- New Hire Onboarding: Own the orientation program. You are the first face new hires see. You ensure they understand the company culture, values, and systems during their first week.
- Content Creation: Design engaging training materials, including slide decks, e-learning modules, and handouts. (We avoid Death by PowerPoint - training must be interactive).
- Facilitation: Deliver live training sessions (both in-person and virtual) on core topics like Compliance, Soft Skills, and Management 101.
- LMS Administration: Manage our Learning Management System (LMS)assigning courses, tracking completion rates, and reporting on compliance training.
2. All Hands on Deck (Team Support & Agility)
- Recruitment Surge Support: During high-growth periods, you will step in to support the Talent Acquisition team. This includes conducting initial culture-fit screens, sitting on interview panels, or helping manage candidate flow.
- Operational Backfill: If the HR Ops team is stretched, you will assist with the administrative side of people management (e.g., preparing new hire kits, helping with exit interviews, or organizing employee files).
- Culture & Events: Training often overlaps with culture. You will assist in organizing company town halls, team-building offsites, and wellness initiatives.
- Internal Comms: Use your presentation/writing skills to help the HR team draft internal announcements or newsletters when needed.
3. Effectiveness & Reporting
- ROI Measurement: Measure the impact of training. (e.g., Did the Customer Service training actually reduce complaints).
- Feedback Loops: Collect post-training feedback and continuously improve the curriculum based on data.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience: 35 years in Learning & Development, Corporate Training, or a general HR role with a heavy focus on onboarding/training.
- Presentation Skills: You must be a confident public speaker who can command a room and keep an audience engaged.
- The Scrappy Mindset: You are comfortable pivoting from facilitating a leadership workshop in the morning to screening CVs or setting up a meeting room in the afternoon.
- Instructional Design: Familiarity with modern training methods (e.g., ADDIE model, Micro-learning, Gamification) is a plus.
- Tech Savvy: Proficient in PowerPoint/Canva and comfortable using HRIS or LMS platforms.
- Empathy: You are often the coach for employees; you need high emotional intelligence to help them grow.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Onboarding Satisfaction: New hire feedback scores regarding their first week experience (Target > 90% positive).
- Training Completion Rate: % of employees who finish mandatory training on time.
- Team Agility: Positive feedback from the Head of HR regarding your willingness to support Recruitment/Ops during peak times.
- Skill Application: Evidence that employees are using what they learned (e.g., improved performance reviews after training).
What We Offer:
- Opportunity to work in a dynamic, growing organization.
- Exposure to diverse roles and international talent.
- Collaborative and fast-moving work environment.
