Job Purpose
To plan, coordinate, and supervise daily transport and delivery operations to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective distribution of products while maximizing fleet and manpower utilization. The role will also deputize for the Transport Manager in their absence.
Key Accountabilities
1. Resource Planning & Utilization
- Plan and allocate vehicles, drivers, helpers, and equipment to meet daily operational requirements.
- Optimize fleet and manpower productivity while controlling transport costs.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams for smooth dispatch execution.
2. Delivery Routing & Scheduling
- Plan daily routes and vehicle loading to maximize delivery efficiency.
- Ensure deliveries are completed within agreed SLAs.
- Coordinate with customers, warehouse teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve delivery issues.
- Monitor delivery progress and take corrective actions when required.
3. Delivery Accuracy & Returns Management
- Ensure accurate loading, dispatch, and delivery of products.
- Minimize delivery discrepancies, damages, and stock variances.
- Verify and reconcile customer returns and rejected deliveries.
4. COD, POD & Documentation Control
- Ensure timely collection and reconciliation of COD payments.
- Ensure all PODs are captured in TMS/DMS systems and archived properly.
- Coordinate daily reconciliation with Finance.
5. Fleet, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure vehicles are roadworthy and comply with company and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and monitor maintenance schedules.
- Ensure adherence to transport SOPs, safety standards, and quality requirements.
- Monitor fuel consumption, vehicle productivity, and fleet performance.
6. Team Management
- Supervise drivers, helpers, and Customer service Associates.
- Monitor attendance, productivity, discipline, and performance.
- Conduct regular training and performance reviews.
7. MIS & Continuous Improvement
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transport performance reports.
- Monitor operational KPIs and recommend process improvements.
- Support cost-saving and productivity improvement initiatives.
Experience, Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's Degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in transport, fleet, logistics, or delivery operations, including supervisory responsibilities.
- Strong knowledge of transport, fleet, and last-mile delivery operations.
- Experience in route planning, dispatch management, POD/COD control, and fleet utilization.
- Knowledge of TMS, GPS tracking, transport compliance, and HSE requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- High level of ownership, initiative, and customer service orientation.
