ABOUT EYEWA & THE OPPORTUNITY
Eyewa is the largest and fastest-growing omnichannel eyewear retailer in the Middle East. Since 2017 we've grown from an online store into a regional powerhouse of 250+ owned-and-operated stores across the GCC, backed by a $100M Series C led by General Atlantic and a business that is both profitable and growing at over 50% year-on-year. Our mission is simple and ambitious: make high-quality eyewear accessible to everyone, everywhere.
Egypt is our next frontier - and one of our most exciting. As we build the market from the ground up, strong treasury and tax foundations will be critical to keeping the business liquid, compliant, and ready to scale. That means clear visibility on cash, strong banking relationships, disciplined payment controls, and complete command of Egypt's tax and regulatory requirements.
This is a hands-on role with real ownership from day one. You will shape how treasury and tax operate locally, build trusted relationships with banks and government authorities, and create practical processes that can scale with a fast-growing retail business. We're looking for someone who combines technical depth with the confidence to get things done externally.
THE ROLE
As Treasury & Tax Manager, you will own the treasury and tax agenda for eyewa Egypt. You will manage liquidity, banking, payments, cash pooling and cash-flow visibility, while ensuring complete and timely compliance across corporate, indirect and employee-related taxes. You will be the key local point of contact for banks, the Egyptian Tax Authority and other relevant government bodies, and will work closely with the MD and Regional Finance team. You do not need to be the Chief Accountant, but you must have strong enough accounting fundamentals to understand the books, challenge issues and ensure treasury and tax entries are accurate.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Treasury & Liquidity Management
- Own day-to-day cash and liquidity management for Egypt, maintaining clear visibility of cash positions, inflows, outflows and funding needs.
- Build and maintain rolling cash-flow forecasts, ensuring sufficient liquidity to support payroll, suppliers, imports, store operations and growth.
- Monitor liquidity risks and support funding, foreign-currency and working-capital decisions in coordination with the MD and Regional Finance.
Banking, Payments & Cash Pooling
- Own relationships with local banks, including account opening and maintenance, KYC, signatories, banking documentation, facilities and issue resolution.
- Manage payment processes and banking controls, ensuring payments are accurate, authorised, timely and supported by strong segregation of duties.
- Establish and manage cash-pooling arrangements with Regional Finance, optimising local balances, minimising idle cash and supporting efficient group liquidity.
- Maintain online banking access, mandates, payment limits and treasury controls, and ensure bank and cash reconciliations are completed accurately and on time.
Tax Compliance & Government Relations
- Own end-to-end Egyptian tax compliance across corporate income tax, VAT, withholding tax, payroll and employee income tax, stamp tax, e-invoicing/e-receipt and other applicable obligations.
- Prepare, review and coordinate all tax returns, payments, reconciliations and supporting schedules, ensuring every filing is complete, accurate and submitted on time.
- Manage tax audits, inspections and queries, and build strong working relationships with the Egyptian Tax Authority, social insurance bodies and other relevant government authorities.
- Stay fully current on changes to Egyptian tax and regulatory requirements, translate them into practical business processes, and coordinate external tax advisers where required.
Accounting Knowledge & Finance Support
- Maintain strong working knowledge of accounting fundamentals, including general ledger, journal entries, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, AP/AR and month-end closing.
- Partner with Regional Finance and accounting teams on month-end close, cash-flow reporting, tax provisions, treasury postings and relevant balance-sheet reconciliations.
- Support external and internal audits by maintaining clear documentation, reconciliations and evidence for treasury and tax balances and processes.
- Advise the MD and business teams on the cash and tax implications of key decisions, including imports, supplier arrangements, new stores and other commercial commitments.
WHO YOU ARE
- 5-6 years of relevant experience across treasury, tax, accounting or finance, with strong hands-on exposure in the Egyptian market.
- Strong treasury capability, including liquidity management, cash-flow forecasting, banking, payment controls and cash pooling.
- Complete and current knowledge of Egyptian tax compliance - not only corporate tax, but also VAT, withholding tax, payroll and employee income tax, e-invoicing/e-receipt and other applicable obligations.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with banks, the Egyptian Tax Authority and other relevant government bodies, and to resolve issues independently.
- Solid accounting fundamentals and the ability to understand the full accounting cycle, balance-sheet movements, reconciliations and month-end close even if accounting is not your primary ownership area.
- Hands-on, resourceful and comfortable operating in a build-from-scratch environment where processes, banking arrangements and controls are still being established.
- Experience in retail, e-commerce, imports or another cash- and inventory-intensive business is a strong advantage. Professional finance or tax qualifications are a plus. Fluent Arabic and English.
WHY THIS ROLE
- Own two of the most critical parts of the Egypt finance setup - cash and compliance - with visible impact on how the business operates every day.
- Build the local treasury, banking, cash-pooling and tax playbook from an early stage rather than inheriting a mature structure.
- Work directly with the Egypt MD, Regional Finance, banks and government authorities, with broad exposure and real ownership.
- The backing of a profitable, fast-growing, well-capitalized regional leader - startup pace without startup fragility.
