Upholstery Supervisor

About the Role

You'll oversee the daily operations of the upholstery shop, managing workflow, scheduling, and quality across all upholstery production activities — from interpreting design orders to hands-on craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage workflow, scheduling, and task assignment across the upholstery shop, monitoring progress against deadlines
• Meet with management to discuss upholstery ideas, interpret design orders, and create upholstery stencils
• Select and source upholstery materials; measure and cut leather and fabric
• Dismantle furniture as needed for upholstery preparation
• Operate machinery to compress padded spring assemblies and insert them into mattress covers
• Encase bed springs and padding with selected covering material via hand or machine stitching; fit castors as required
• Replace covering, padding, webbing, or springs to repair upholstered furniture
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure project deadlines are met
• Perform other upholstery-related tasks as assigned by the Production Manager

Requirements

• Diploma/vocational certification in Upholstery, Furniture Production, or related trade (preferred)
• Minimum 5+ years of hands-on upholstery experience, including supervisory exposure, ideally in furniture manufacturing, fit-out, or joinery
• Strong knowledge of upholstery materials, techniques, and machinery operation
• Skilled in reading design/technical drawings and translating them into stencils and finished pieces
• Good leadership, scheduling, and team coordination skills
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
