Job Description

Job Objective

The Utilities HVAC & Refrigeration Engineer at the Plasma Donation Center is responsible for the design support, execution follow-up, reliability, and performance of HVAC and refrigeration systems critical to facility operation, environmental control, and product safety.

This role focuses on climate control, refrigeration networks, air distribution ducts, and associated utilities, ensuring that all systems are properly designed, installed, operated, and maintained according to pharmaceutical and safety standards.

Environment

Internal: Engineering, maintenance, operations, quality assurance, validation, and facility teams

External: HVAC contractors, refrigeration suppliers, consultants, and external service providers

Key Responsibilities

HVAC, Refrigeration & Utilities Management

  • Support the design and execution of HVAC and refrigeration installations for the new facility.
  • Review technical drawings, layouts, and specifications related to ducts, air handling systems, cooling systems, and utilities.
  • Supervise and coordinate installation activities for climate control and refrigeration systems.
  • Ensure proper operation of HVAC systems, chillers, air handling units, ductwork, cold rooms, and refrigeration equipment.
  • Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, pressure differentials, and airflow in critical areas.
  • Participate in testing, balancing, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure reliability and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to air distribution, cooling performance, ventilation, and refrigeration capacity.
  • Ensure systems operate in compliance with cleanroom, GMP, and facility requirements where applicable.
  • Collaborate with quality and validation teams on system qualification and performance verification.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure compliance with applicable HVAC, refrigeration, and safety standards.
  • Maintain documentation for inspections, maintenance records, system modifications, and technical reports.
  • Update as-built documentation, layouts, and technical files as needed.
  • Generate reports on system performance, incidents, and improvement opportunities.

Academic Experience Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field

Professional Experience Required

  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC, refrigeration, or utilities engineering
  • Hands-on experience in the design, installation, execution, and maintenance of HVAC and cooling systems
  • Experience with ducting, ventilation, chilled water systems, refrigeration, and environmental control
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, laboratories, industrial facilities, or regulated environments is highly valued
  • Familiarity with commissioning and qualification of HVAC and utility systems
  • Good understanding of HVAC drawings, P&IDs, layouts, and technical specifications
  • GMP experience is a plus

Computing Skills

  • MS Office
  • AutoCAD or similar drawing tools
  • SAP is a plus

Personal Skills

  • Strong technical and problem-solving skills
  • Good coordination with contractors and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage execution and follow-up of site activities
  • Strong attention to detail and compliance
  • Good planning and organizational capabilities
