The Opportunity
The Training Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that employees have the necessary job knowledge and skills before promotion to the next job level. Training is accomplished through one-on-one knowledge training, job performance demonstrations, and on-the-job training. The Utilities Training Coordinator reports to the Utilities Manager.
How You Will Impact WestRock
- Develops/audits auxiliary equipment lockout/tagout/try procedures as needed to ensure a safe working environment for maintenance and operations employees.
- Conducts job hazard analyses on operator tasks.
- Ensures that safety considerations, including PPE, are part of all training manuals and SOPs.
- Conducts shift safety meetings as needed.
- Investigate all Utilities Department safety incidents to determine if additional training could prevent a repeat occurrence.
- Understands their role with respect to the Mahrt Mill Quality Policy and applies these principles to resolving daily issues.
- Develops process descriptions and operating procedures for new and existing equipment in the powerhouse.
- Provide startup assistance to the powerhouse operators for new equipment.
- Conducts âtraining talksâ at the beginning of shift meetings to address areas needing improvement or new procedures.
- Administers the knowledge-based portion of the powerhouse operator qualification program and assists with the performance-based portion of the program.
- Troubleshoots operating problems.
- Powerhouse operations team member for long-term equipment upgrade projects.
- Conducts simulator training, on-the-job training assistance, and classroom training for powerhouse operators. .
- Maintain records refresher training needs and keeps Utilities Manager informed at least one month ahead of refresher training deadlines. .
- Understands the Mahrt Operations Environmental Policy and limits and ensures that this information is included in training materials as needed.
- Adheres to language in current labor agreement.
What You Will Need To Succeed
- 10 paper mill operational experience or a BS in engineering with previous power generation experience preferred.
- WestRock IPPE five leadership competencies â target performance level or higher. Stewardship, Performance Excellence, Innovative Spirit, Respect for the Individual and Teamwork.
- Target level or higher on the following behavioral competencies: Initiative/Action oriented, Command Skills/Directing Others, Delegation, Motivating Others, Decision Quality/Dealing with Ambiguity, Conflict Management/Confronting Direct Reports.
- Demonstrates proactive approach to resolving issues that could result in injury, downtime, rejects, etc.
- Adequate computer skills â e-mail, PI, Domino, Intranet applications, word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Other Position Requirements
- Must be available to work extra days when needed.
- This position is in a manufacturing environment that involves rounds/tasks in operating areas that includes climbing stairs and ladders, and high heat conditions.
- Other duties as assigned.
