About Owlera

Owlera is an AI-powered career platform that helps students and fresh graduates gain practical experience through internship simulations inspired by real companies.

Participants work on realistic business challenges, receive AI-powered feedback, use modern professional tools, and build portfolio-ready projects that demonstrate their abilities to future employers.

We're looking for driven, analytical, and entrepreneurially-minded students to join our Venture Capital Internship and gain hands-on experience in the deal sourcing, startup evaluation, and investment analysis work behind real venture capital firms.

About the Internship

As a Venture Capital Intern, you'll do realistic venture capital work inspired by real VC firms: sourcing startups, screening pitch decks, sizing markets, analyzing unit economics, and drafting investment memos for mock investment committees.

You'll learn how venture investors find promising startups, evaluate founders and business models, and decide where to place capital — from first screening to term sheet.

Responsibilities

* Source mock startups across target sectors using defined investment criteria and thesis areas.

* Screen and score mock pitch decks against a structured evaluation rubric.

* Build market sizing models (TAM, SAM, SOM) for mock startup opportunities.

* Conduct competitive landscape analyses and map differentiation for target companies.

* Analyze mock startup unit economics: CAC, LTV, churn, margins, and payback periods.

* Build simple financial models projecting revenue, burn, and runway for mock startups.

* Research mock founders backgrounds and prepare concise founder diligence summaries.

* Draft investment memos with thesis, risks, and a clear recommendation for mock deals.

* Analyze cap tables and model dilution across financing rounds for mock companies.

* Study term sheet components (valuation, liquidation preference, pro-rata, anti-dilution) at a conceptual level.

* Benchmark mock startup valuations against comparable funding rounds.

* Monitor mock portfolio companies: track KPIs and prepare performance updates.

* Prepare LP-style reporting summaries and portfolio commentary for mock funds.

* Research emerging sectors and write short thesis notes on investment themes.

* Build a mock deal pipeline: logging, tracking, and prioritizing opportunities.

* Analyze fund economics basics: management fees, carried interest, and fund returns.

* Prepare due diligence checklists covering product, market, team, and financials.

* Research startup ecosystems, accelerators, and funding trends in target markets.

* Use AI tools to accelerate research, memo drafting, and market analysis.

* Present investment recommendations with clear rationale and supporting evidence.

* Document assumptions and maintain audit-ready deal files.

Requirements

* Current student or recent graduate in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or a related field.

* Strong interest in startups, venture capital, and technology investing.

* Analytical, curious, and comfortable forming independent investment opinions.

* Strong spreadsheet skills (Excel or Google Sheets); formulas a must, modeling experience a plus.

* Good written and verbal communication skills, including concise memo-style writing.

* Ability to turn company data and market research into a clear investment thesis.

* Interest in how founders build companies and how investors evaluate them.

* Familiarity with basic startup concepts (fundraising rounds, valuation, equity) is a plus but not required.

* Familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or similar platforms is a plus.

* Previous professional finance or startup experience is not required.

What You'll Gain

* Hands-on experience doing venture capital work like real investors.

* Practical experience sourcing and evaluating startups.

* Experience writing investment memos and market analyses.

* Understanding of startup valuation, unit economics, and fund economics.

* Experience analyzing pitch decks, cap tables, and term sheets.

* Understanding of deal sourcing, due diligence, and portfolio monitoring.

* Practical exposure to LP reporting and fund-level performance thinking.

* Experience using AI and modern research tools.

* Portfolio-ready venture capital projects.

* Personalized AI feedback on your work.

* Professional certificate upon successful completion.

* Mentorship and weekly learning sessions.

* Opportunity to strengthen your portfolio, resume, and interview readiness.
