Looking for Vessel / Offshore IT Technician on DP3 Accommodation / Construction barge in Qatar.
Rotation: 8 weeks on / 8 weeks off
Certificates required: BOSIET OPITO, STCW BST and SDSD
Required Qualifications:
- Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
- Certifications as IT & Network Technician (e.g. CompTIA A+, N+, Cisco CCNA).
- 2 - 5 years work experience as an IT Technician or relevant position, within the Oil & Gas industry on offshore vessels.
- Excellent diagnostic and IT problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of LAN and Wi-Fi networks.
- Knowledge of VSAT, Starlink and TVRO Media systems.
- Good working knowledge of IT security and data privacy principles.
- Valid STCW/ILO Medical Certificate.
- Training & certification in accordance with the TOL Training Matrices.
Operational Roles and Responsibilities
- Assist the IT onshore team with installation, configuration, and optimization of computer hardware, network equipment, operating systems, and maritime-specific applications.
- Oversee and maintain VSAT, Starlink and TVRO Media systems ensuring high-availability satellite connectivity for both vessel operations and crew welfare.
- Administer and troubleshoot managed Wi-Fi networks and LAN infrastructure across multiple decks in a steel-hull environment.
- Proactively monitor performance to ensure system availability and reliability.
- Enforce rigorous IT security policies and technical restrictions to protect vessel networks from threats in compliance with company policies.
- Provide orientation and guidance to crew on new software, hardware, and acceptable use policies.
- Organize and schedule upgrades & maintenance without deterring others from completing their work.
- Utilize diagnostic skills to perform rapid root-cause analysis and resolution for complex hardware, software, and network outages, minimizing operational downtime.
- Manage the full lifecycle of IT assets, including documenting configurations, maintaining hardware inventories, and ensuring critical spares for offshore repairs are always in stock.
- Maintain meticulous, up-to-date documentation of the vessel's network topology diagrams and system configurations.
