Virtualisation Operations Engineer

About the Role

We are looking for a Virtualisation Operations Engineer to support the day-to-day operation and administration of the organization's virtualization environment. The role will focus on VM provisioning, resource allocation, monitoring, troubleshooting, maintenance, and operational support across VMware infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day administration of VMware ESXi, vCenter, clusters, and virtual machines.
• Provision, configure, modify, migrate, and decommission virtual machines.
• Manage CPU, memory, storage, and network resource allocation.
• Monitor virtualization infrastructure performance, capacity, and system health.
• Provide L2 support for virtualization-related incidents and service requests.
• Troubleshoot VM performance, connectivity, configuration, and resource issues.
• Investigate alerts and system events and take appropriate corrective actions.
• Escalate complex technical issues to Senior Virtualisation Engineers or L3 teams.
• Support VMware patching, upgrades, maintenance, and migration activities.
• Execute approved changes in accordance with ITSM and change management procedures.
• Perform routine health checks and operational maintenance.
• Maintain accurate VM inventory, configuration records, and technical documentation.
• Work closely with infrastructure, storage, backup, and network teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in virtualization, systems administration, or infrastructure operations.
• Hands-on experience with VMware ESXi and vCenter.
• Experience with VM provisioning, resource allocation, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
• Basic understanding of server, storage, networking, and backup technologies.
• Experience working within ITSM/ITIL environments.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• VMware VCP-DCV certification.
• VMware Associate or Professional certification.
• Experience with Veeam or other enterprise backup solutions.
• Experience supporting enterprise virtualization environments.
• ITIL Foundation certification.
