Job description:
Key Responsibilities:
Virtualization Architecture & Management:
Design, implement, and maintain VMware-based infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSphere environments.
Oversee the deployment and management of virtual machines (VMs) to ensure optimal performance and scalability.
Plan and execute infrastructure upgrades, patches, and migrations with minimal downtime.
VDI Infrastructure Management:
Design, deploy, and maintain VMware Horizon VDI environments, including Horizon View, Unified Access Gateway (UAG), App Volumes, and Dynamic Environment Manager (DEM).
Oversee the configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of VMware vSphere ESXi hosts, vCenter, and vSAN for VDI workloads.
Manage desktop pools, RDS farms, and application delivery to ensure optimized end-user access and experience.
Performance & Optimization:
Monitor and analyze the performance of virtualized environments, resolving bottlenecks and capacity issues.
Implement resource optimization techniques such as dynamic resource allocation, clustering, and storage integration.
Monitor and tune VDI performance for optimal user experience, ensuring availability, load balancing, and fault tolerance.
Storage & Networking:
Integrate VMware environments with SAN, NAS, or other storage systems.
Configure virtual networking, VLANs, distributed switches, and NSX-T for optimal connectivity and security.
Backup & Disaster Recovery:
Develop and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies for VMware environments using tools like Veeam, SRM, or other solutions.
Test disaster recovery procedures regularly to ensure business continuity.
Automation & Scripting:
Automate routine tasks using PowerCLI, vROps, or other scripting tools.
Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles for efficient provisioning and management.
Collaboration & Support:
Collaborate with security, storage, and networking teams to align virtualization strategies with broader IT goals.
Provide 3rd-level support for escalated incidents and mentor junior engineers in resolving complex issues.
Documentation & Compliance:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of VMware configurations, processes, and procedures.
Ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies, including ISO 27001 or other security frameworks.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Certifications:
VMware certifications (e.g., VCP, VCAP, or VCDX) are highly preferred.
VMware Certified Professional Desktop and Mobility (VCP-DTM)
Key Skills:
Proficiency in automation using PowerCLI, Python, or similar tools.
Strong understanding of storage technologies (SAN/NAS) and networking concepts (VLANs, vSwitch, NSX-T).
Experience with backup and recovery tools such as Veeam or SRM.
Familiarity with cloud platforms like Azure is a plus.
