VP, Application Engineering - Insurance

A leading insurance organisation in Singapore is hiring a VP of Application Engineering. This is a senior engineering leadership role responsible for mutiple teams delivering mission-critical enterprise applications across a modern cloud technology environment. The role will suit an experienced engineering leader who can set direction, lead delivery and remain close to the technology.

Responsibilities

You will own the engineering strategy and roadmap for scalable, secure and reliable application platforms. You will lead engineering teams, set technical direction and oversee the delivery of complex enterprise applications. You will drive strong engineering practices across architecture, application development, DevOps, security, reliability and performance. Working closely with technology, product and business stakeholders, you will help turn business priorities into clear technical plans and ensure teams deliver stable and maintainable solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role. You will stay close to the technology, guide engineers on architecture and design decisions, review technical approaches and step into complex engineering issues when needed. You will also look ahead at how new technologies, including AI and automation, can improve engineering productivity and team effectiveness.

Requirements

You should be a strong technical engineering leader with solid experience in modern application development, cloud platforms and enterprise architecture. You will need to be comfortable reviewing architecture, challenging technical decisions and engaging with engineers on complex issues.

You should have proven experience leading multiple engineering teams and delivering large-scale, highly available enterprise applications. Strong stakeholder management and people leadership skills are important.

Experience in insurance or financial services is preferred. A forward-looking mindset and interest in how AI and emerging technologies can improve engineering teams will also be important.
