Warehouse Manager
Industry: Building Materials (gypsum, , steel, insulation, hardware, etc.)
Job Purpose
Responsible for managing day-to-day warehouse operations to ensure safe, accurate, and timely receipt, storage, and dispatch of building materials while maintaining inventory accuracy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Warehouse Operations
- Manage receiving, storage, and dispatch of building materials such as boards, steel profiles, insulation, fasteners, and accessories
- Ensure proper stacking, segregation, and protection of materials (non-stackable, fragile, moisture-sensitive items)
- Plan warehouse layout to optimize space utilization and material flow
- Supervise loading and unloading using forklifts, cranes, or manual handling
Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate stock records (ERP / WMS / manual registers)
- Conduct regular stock counts (daily, monthly, annual) and reconcile variances
- Monitor minimum and maximum stock levels to avoid shortages or overstock
- Track batch numbers, sizes, and specifications where applicable
Dispatch & Logistics Coordination
- Prepare dispatch plans based on sales orders and project requirements
- Ensure correct picking, packing, and documentation for deliveries
- Coordinate with transporters and drivers for timely deliveries
- Verify delivery notes, gate passes, and truck loading accuracy
Team Management
- Supervise warehouse supervisors, storekeepers, forklift operators, and labor
- Assign duties and shifts to meet operational requirements
- Train staff on material handling, safety, and warehouse procedures
- Monitor productivity and discipline of warehouse staff
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and fire regulations
- Enforce safe material handling practices and use of PPE
- Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free warehouse areas
- Report and investigate damages, losses, and accidents
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain GRNs, delivery notes, stock reports, and damage reports
- Coordinate with procurement, sales, and finance teams
- Prepare daily and monthly warehouse performance reports
- Support audits and inspections when required
Required Skills & Knowledge
- Strong knowledge of building materials and handling requirements
- Inventory control and stock management skills
- Ability to manage labor and warehouse equipment
- Basic computer skills (Excel, ERP/WMS systems)
- Good coordination and problem-solving skills
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, or related field preferred
- 58 years of warehouse experience, preferably in building materials industry
- Prior experience managing large or heavy materials is an advantage
