JOB PURPOSE
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for directing the daily activities of the warehouse, including labor scheduling, supervision of equipment and manpower. Key responsibilities include: staffing, warehouse operations, maintenance of the facility and equipment, implementation of safety, security, housekeeping and sanitation programs.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Management
- Schedule to manage all distribution services including receiving, storage, shipping, handling returned/damaged goods, and maintenance activities to ensure customer requirements are met in an efficient manner.
- Make recommendations to the Warehouse Manager on programs to improve operations.
- Work with the Warehouse Manager to establish goals.
- Lead the operations of the warehouse Supervisory personnel to achieve prescribed objectives.
- Control and direct all transportation into and out of the warehouse to meet company standards.
- To submit all relevant KPI reports to the Warehouse manager.
- To set up the standard training program for all levels of employees involved in the operations and to train them
- For small operations: maintenance of forklifts and other MHE
Financial Management
- To provide a meaningful review of warehouse performance in relation to forecast.
- To identify and implement warehouse cost efficiency actions where possible and required.
Team Leadership
- To actively promote, lead, coach and develop team members using the resources of the company HR framework.
- Ensuring all non-performing team members are identified, appropriately supported and managed as required
Customer Service
- Settle and forecasts customer requirements in the warehouse (fifo picking, build up Set's, VAS)
- Defines ways to add value to customers operation
- Develops awareness of customers business drivers
- Makes realistic commitments to customers together with the Warehouse Manager
QSHE
- To observe all company quality requirements at all times.
- To ensure compliance with all warehouse safety policies and requirements.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
- At least 3 years experience in senior warehouse environment, one in a supervisory role
- Proven knowledge and understanding of shift control
- Knowledge of distribution and WMS IT software
- Additional distribution knowledge preferred
- Proven skill managing blue collar staff in a distribution centre environment
- Possess professional business demeanour
- Strong communications skills and problem solving abilities
- A flexible approach to work and the ability to work under pressure
- Organizing skills with proven effective leadership skills
- Good team working skills as well as being customer focused
- Knowledge of basic employment law and Policies and Procedures
