REPORTING TO:
QA/QC Manager
Minimum Qualification:
Master's degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related field.
Minimum Experience:
- Minimum 5 -10 years of experience in welding and fabrication within oil & gas, or industrial projects.
- Professional certification in welding engineering (IWE, CWE, or another acceptable equivalent.
- ASNT Level II in RT, UT, MT, and PT.
- Hands-on experience in piping fabrication, spool welding, and erection.
- Strong knowledge of welding codes, standards, and metallurgy.
- Proficiency in welding simulation and design software is a plus
Working Conditions:
- Office and field-based work.
- Occasional travel to project sites and testing laboratories.
- Exposure to industrial environments and welding operations.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Review & Planning
- Analyze customer drawings and specifications to determine material and welding requirements.
- Identify and develop appropriate Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Select suitable electrodes and consumables; estimate quantities required for projects.
- Source materials necessary for WPS/PQR development.
- Design and optimize welding joints and processes for quality and efficiency.
- Apply relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO) to proposed welding procedures.
Execution & Supervision
- Supervise the implementation of welding procedures and welder qualification tests.
- Witness and oversee PQR testing on-site and in laboratories.
- Prepare and maintain WPS documentation.
- Review and approve welder qualification records.
- Assess and manage production weld testing requirements, ensuring timely execution and reporting.
Collaboration & Problem Solving
- Consult with customer engineers and production supervisors to resolve metallurgical and welding-related issues.
- Support the development and implementation of automated welding systems and innovative methodologies.
Training & Development
- Supervise activities in the metallurgical laboratory.
- Oversee welding school operations and training programs.
- Monitor and evaluate welder performance and provide technical guidance.
