Role Description

Dekorativ is seeking an experienced Wood Works Furniture Factory Manager for a full-time, on-site position in Giza, Egypt.

The Factory Manager will be responsible for managing the overall operations of the furniture manufacturing facility, from project handover and cost estimation through production planning, manufacturing, quality control, delivery, and final project completion.

This is a senior operational role requiring strong practical experience in furniture manufacturing together with a solid commercial understanding of cost control, project pricing, quotations, material consumption, and production efficiency.

The Factory Manager will work closely with the design, technical, purchasing, pricing, finance, project management, and production teams to ensure projects are manufactured according to approved drawings, specifications, budgets, quality standards, and delivery schedules.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and oversee the complete day-to-day operations of the furniture factory.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor production schedules according to project priorities and agreed delivery dates.
  • Manage multiple furniture and fit-out projects simultaneously through the different stages of production.
  • Coordinate between technical office, production, purchasing, warehouse, finance, project management, and site teams.
  • Review technical drawings, shop drawings, cutting lists, bills of quantities, and material specifications before production.
  • Ensure accurate preparation and review of project cost estimates and client quotations.
  • Evaluate direct material costs, labor requirements, factory overheads, subcontracting, accessories, finishing, transportation, and other project-related costs.
  • Establish and monitor appropriate pricing and profit margins for furniture and joinery projects.
  • Compare estimated project costs against actual production costs and investigate significant variances.
  • Monitor material consumption, waste, rework, and production losses.
  • Develop initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs without compromising product quality.
  • Optimize sheet materials, natural wood, veneers, hardware, accessories, paint, upholstery materials, and other production resources.
  • Supervise production teams including carpentry, CNC, cutting, edge banding, assembly, finishing, painting, upholstery, and related departments.
  • Monitor production productivity and employee performance.
  • Establish measurable production KPIs covering productivity, waste, quality, delivery performance, and cost.
  • Ensure that products meet approved drawings, samples, specifications, and required quality standards.
  • Conduct regular quality inspections and implement corrective actions where necessary.
  • Minimize rejected products, rework, defective production, and material waste.
  • Manage factory capacity and manpower allocation according to current and upcoming projects.
  • Monitor machinery performance and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Ensure proper control and availability of raw materials, hardware, consumables, and production supplies.
  • Support purchasing negotiations and evaluate alternative materials and suppliers where appropriate.
  • Maintain proper health, safety, housekeeping, and factory operating procedures.
  • Coordinate project deliveries and installation requirements with project and site teams.
  • Prepare regular production, costing, efficiency, and operational reports for senior management.
  • Continuously develop factory systems, workflows, procedures, and production standards.

Qualifications & Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in furniture manufacturing, joinery, woodworking, interior fit-out, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 2 years of proven experience as a Factory Manager, Production Manager, Operations Manager, or equivalent senior manufacturing position.
  • Strong practical knowledge of custom furniture manufacturing and wood production processes.
  • Strong knowledge of production planning, factory scheduling, capacity planning, and workflow management.
  • Proven experience managing production teams and factory personnel.
  • Strong understanding of furniture costing, cost estimation, cost control, and pricing.
  • Proven ability to prepare, review, or approve project quotations and furniture pricing.
  • Ability to calculate and evaluate material costs, labor costs, production overheads, indirect costs, subcontracting costs, and required profit margins.
  • Ability to compare estimated versus actual project costs and identify causes of cost overruns.
  • Good understanding of BOQs, BOMs, cutting lists, material take-offs, and production drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of wood-based materials including MDF, plywood, chipboard, natural wood, veneers, laminates, HPL, melamine, and painted finishes.
  • Good knowledge of furniture hardware, hinges, drawer systems, mechanisms, accessories, and related components.
  • Familiarity with CNC machinery, panel saws, edge banding machines, woodworking machinery, finishing, painting, and assembly processes.
  • Strong understanding of quality control procedures for furniture manufacturing.
  • Experience controlling material waste and improving production efficiency.
  • Understanding of inventory, purchasing, warehouse control, and material planning.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing health and safety requirements.
  • Experience implementing factory KPIs, productivity measurements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong leadership and team-management capabilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong coordination skills across technical, commercial, production, and project teams.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Architecture, Interior Design, Manufacturing Technology, Wood Technology, or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Relevant technical diplomas combined with extensive furniture manufacturing and factory-management experience may also be considered.

The candidate should be capable of managing the factory as a complete business operation, with responsibility for production performance, quality, cost, waste, delivery, and project profitability.
