JOB PROFILE:
We are seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Workshop Foreman to lead and control daily workshop operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality maintenance and repair of heavy earthmoving equipment while managing manpower, resources, and work priorities in line with company standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workshop Operations & Planning:
- Coordinate manpower (mechanics, electricians, welders, helpers).
- Monitor job progress and ensure on‑time completion.
- Liaise with site teams and planners regarding machine availability.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide hands‑on technical support and fault‑finding when required.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues.
- Ensure repairs are completed to manufacturer and company standards.
Safety, Health & Environment (HSE):
- Enforce safety rules, toolbox talks, and permit‑to‑work systems.
- Ensure correct use of PPE, LOTO procedures, lifting plans, and risk assessments.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment.
- Lead incident reporting and corrective actions.
Quality Control:
- Inspect completed work before machine release.
- Ensure correct torque settings, cleanliness, and assembly standards.
- Reduce repeat failures through root cause analysis.
- Enforce maintenance best practices and preventive maintenance culture.
Documentation & Reporting:
- Ensure all job cards, checklists, and reports are properly completed.
- Record parts usage, labour hours, and repair notes accurately.
- Report daily/weekly workshop status to management.
Parts, Tools & Resources:
- Ensure correct and safe use of tools and lifting equipment.
- Report missing, damaged, or unserviceable tools.
Communication & Coordination:
- Act as link between workshop, site operations, planners, and management.
- Communicate delays, risks, and technical concerns proactively.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in supervising heavy equipment workshop
- Experience with diesel engines, hydraulic systems, undercarriage systems, powertrain components, diagnostic software and computerized systems.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics and service manuals.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to lift heavy components, climb machinery, and work in various environments.
