Workshop Manager Job Description
The Workshop Manager oversees daily workshop operations, ensuring efficient maintenance, repair, and servicing of vehicles/equipment. The role includes team supervision, workflow planning, quality control, safety compliance, and coordination with customers and suppliers, in alignment with UAE industry standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily workshop operations and ensure timely completion of repair and maintenance tasks
- Supervise technicians, assign workloads, and monitor performance
- Diagnose technical issues and provide guidance on complex repairs
- Ensure compliance with UAE safety standards, company policies, and industry regulations
- Plan preventive maintenance schedules for vehicles/equipment
- Monitor workshop productivity, quality of work, and turnaround time
- Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers for timely procurement
- Prepare job estimates, repair orders, and service reports
- Communicate with customers/clients regarding service updates, approvals, and delivery timelines
- Control workshop costs and optimize resource utilization
- Train technicians and ensure skill development through ongoing technical training
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safety inside the workshop
- Work with management on budgeting, forecasting, and improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or related field
- 58 years of experience in workshop operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
- Strong technical knowledge of vehicles/equipment relevant to the business (automotive, heavy machinery, fleet, etc.)
- Experience working in a UAE workshop environment (preferred)
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
- Familiarity with workshop management systems and job-card processes
- Understanding of UAE health and safety regulations
