JOB PURPOSE
- Plan and supervise yard operations, ensuring maximum productivity at optimal cost through optimal utilization of resources, while adhering to quality & safety standards.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Responsible of the yard operations in each shift.
- Supervise and control in an effective way the yard operations.
- Coordinate and supervise the land side activities and the proper handling of the units (discharging and loading).
- Assign and deploy the operators according to the operation requirements.
- Ensure yard operations are managed in accordance with terminal policies and procedures, legislative policy, safety procedures and customer requirements.
- Identify any unsafe action during the yard operations in the shift and take the proper action.
- Monitor operations to avoid any yard congestion or yard equipment conflict during operations.
- Organize the yard equipment utilization as per operations requirement and take immediate action for equipment break down to avoid operational delays.
- Coordinate with Examination and Planning closely for movement of containers for any land side activity that is requested.
- Ensure that movement of containers is as planned.
- Suggest and maintain optimum storage area productivity and storage utilization.
- Provide regular process control checks and initiate and support performance improvement activities.
- Any other work deemed fit for structuring of tasks and goals, to achieve high productivity with efficient utilization of equipment and labor.
- Assist General Supervisor and Shift Manager in performing periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnel.

- Technical for maintenance activities of equipment.

- Identify training areas for departmental development needs.
- Ensure effective inter and intra departmental communication for vessel and yard operations.
- Propose areas for operational improvement, system automation and up-gradation
- Perform periodical scheduled performance review with reporting personnel.
- Monitor and manage equipment utilization and movements in the Main and exam yard to ensure maximum productivity and minimum unproductive moves.
- Implementation of SOPs and identifying time to time gapes to further optimization of workflow.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
- Experience in container planning or operations
- 5 to 6 years of experience of container terminal operations
- Graduate / bachelor's degree (related degrees)
- Good communication skills.
- Prior experience in managing and building teams
