Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to support core accounting operations, financial reporting, and tax compliance for the Egypt entity. The role is responsible for daily accounting activities, month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and compliance with Egyptian tax regulations. The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of IFRS, Egyptian tax requirements, and ERP-based accounting systems, and can work independently while collaborating with regional finance teams, auditors, and tax authorities.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Record daily accounting transactions, including invoice booking and issuance.
- Perform monthly closing activities in line with the agreed close calendar.
- Book monthly accruals, prepaid expenses, and provisions.
- Prepare and review accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
- Review trial balance and key general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Conduct monthly balance sheet reviews and investigate discrepancies.
Reporting & Reconciliations
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations and maintain proper supporting documentation.
- Monitor and reconcile bank transactions, including collections and payments.
- Prepare and review monthly bank reconciliations.
- Monitor advances and employee-related accounts in compliance with company policies.
- Confirm balances with suppliers and dealers on a periodic basis.
- Prepare monthly financial reports and deliverables for the regional finance team.
Tax & Regulatory Compliance
- Prepare monthly VAT calculations and submissions to the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA).
- Prepare quarterly Withholding Tax (WHT) calculations and filings.
- Support the preparation of annual Corporate Income Tax (CIT) calculations and submissions.
- Ensure accounting records comply with local tax regulations and IFRS requirements.
- Support the finance team during tax inspections and queries from the Egyptian Tax Authority.
Audit & Compliance
- Support external and internal audits by preparing audit schedules and required documentation.
- Respond to audit queries and ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and statutory requirements.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Utilize ERP systems effectively to support accounting, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 35 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and Egyptian tax regulations (VAT, WHT, CIT).
- Experience working with ERP systems (SAP or similar preferred).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience supporting external audits and tax inspections is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
