Job Description

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. The CBUAE is responsible for promoting monetary and financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure, and the adoption of digital technologies.

The Central Bank of the UAE is seeking to hire an individual who will contribute to the implementation of the CBUAE's monetary policy objectives through the development of the Dirham Monetary Framework and related monetary management tools for the domestic market.

This role is onsite and based in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the development of policies an guidelines supporting the CBUAE's monetary policy objectives and structure of the monetary system, including overseeing the design and implementation of all aspects related to the Dirham Monetary Framework (and related enhancements) and CBUAE's market operations as well as other aspects related to the UAE monetary system (e.g. reference interest rates, payment system functioning, capital flows, exchange rate).
  • Monitor the effectiveness of monetary transmission in the UAE through research and analysis of macro-financial conditions and policy developments
  • Support the maintenance/improvement of the analytical framework related to the overnight liquidity surplus target (range) and daily liquidity forecasting for the conduct of open market operations.
  • Prepare periodic reports on market/banking sector developments and support the implementation of liquidity management tools, liquidity forecasting approaches, and policy guidelines for collateral management.
  • Report to senior management on the effectiveness of monetary management tools in use by banks operating in the UAE.
  • Perform any other duties outside the scope as and when required.

Position Specifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field such as Economics, Finance, Econometrics or relevant subject.
  • Any relevant professional certifications
  • 2+ years of experience in the financial industry, regulator and/or central bank
  • UAE-specific experience with familiarity of UAE markets and regulations desirable
  • Familiarity with money markets and capital markets
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills
