Job Purpose
Responsible for planning, designing, reviewing, and overseeing the development, renovation, and maintenance of healthcare facilities to ensure functionality, safety, and compliance with healthcare standards and regulatory requirements.
This role provides architectural expertise to support the Facility Management Department in optimizing space utilization, improving patient-centered design, and maintaining the built environment in alignment with accreditation standards (CBAHI, JCI, NFPA).
The Architect Engineer acts as a key liaison between the organization, consultants, contractors, and internal departments to ensure projects are executed efficiently, sustainably, and in accordance with organizational objectives.
Organizational Accountabilities
Ensure all planning activities comply with MOH regulations, hospital policies, and Saudi building codes.
Align project plans with the hospital's strategic goals, operational needs, and patient care objectives.
Maintain strict compliance with internal governance processes and budgetary constraints.
Support continuous improvement initiatives within the hospital's Planning & Development function.
Follow all relevant policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions and ensure work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
Promote the implementation and adherence to relevant policies, processes, and operating procedures to others.
Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems, processes, and practices, considering leading practices, improvement of department processes, cost reduction, and productivity improvement.
Apply safety, quality, and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality service, and a responsible environmental attitude.
Build high levels of trust and understanding with key internal and external stakeholders to promote full compliance with industry regulations and promote a broader understanding of Dallah Health's interests and practices.
Functional Accountabilities
Develop architectural designs, layouts, and technical drawings for healthcare facilities, expansions, renovations, and remodeling projects.
Conduct space planning and functional programming to ensure efficient patient, staff, and material flow.
Review and approve design documents, ensuring alignment with healthcare design standards, building codes, and infection control guidelines.
Ensure compliance with international healthcare design standards (AIA, FGI, NFPA, ASHRAE, and MOH guidelines).
Participate in feasibility studies, budgeting, and cost estimation for proposed facility projects.
Coordinate with external consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely project delivery and adherence to specifications.
Conduct site inspections during construction and renovation projects to ensure quality and compliance with design intent.
Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, and as-built documentation.
Ensure architectural aspects of facilities comply with CBAHI, JCI, and NFPA accreditation standards.
Collaborate with the Accreditation Specialist and Safety teams to address environment-of-care requirements.
Support periodic facility audits and readiness reviews for accreditation and regulatory inspections.
Recommend design innovations to enhance sustainability, energy efficiency, and patient safety.
Contribute to developing Facility Management policies, standards, and procedures.
Stay current with emerging trends in healthcare architecture, smart hospital technologies, and green building practices.
-Qualifications & Experience:
510 years of professional experience in architectural design and construction management, preferably in healthcare or hospital projects.
Strong knowledge of healthcare facility design standards, safety codes, and building regulations (MOH, CBAHI, JCI, NFPA, FGI).
Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM, and other architectural design software.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
Experience in facility assessment, space planning, and renovation of operational healthcare environments.
Familiarity with sustainable design principles and hospital engineering systems (MEP integration).
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering (required).
Professional license or registration (e.g., Saudi Council of Engineers membership) is required.
Certifications in Project Management (PMP), Healthcare Facility Design (HFDP), or LEED Accreditation are considered an asset.
Ongoing professional development in healthcare architecture and facility planning is encouraged.
