Retail Design Architect – Dubai

For a leading facilities management company in the region, dealing with residential and commercial properties.

This role will play a critical role in maintaining design integrity and regulatory compliance across a large-scale master community in Dubai. This position is responsible for reviewing and assessing design submissions for retail shopfronts, signage, outdoor seating areas, and fit-out hoardings to ensure alignment with client design guidelines and all applicable local authority regulations. The role also extends to overseeing internal fit-out applications for retail and office units, with particular attention to architectural coordination and MEP integration.

Applicants for this role should have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Strong knowledge of Dubai building regulations, codes, and approval processes, Experience working on large-scale mixed-use or master-planned developments, Familiarity with MEP systems, especially in food & beverage environments, and proficiency in design and review tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Adobe Suite.

Responsibilities:

• Reviewing and assessing design submissions for retail shopfronts, signage, external seating areas, and fit-out hoardings against client design standards and community guidelines
• Ensuring all proposals comply with relevant regulations and codes issued by authorities such as Dubai Municipality, Dubai Civil Defence, and other governing bodies
• Maintaining consistency of design language across a master-planned community featuring diverse architectural styles and elevations
• Providing clear, actionable feedback to tenants, designers, and consultants to ensure submissions meet required standards
• Review internal fit-out applications for retail and office spaces, ensuring compliance with approved layouts and design intent
• Overseeing MEP coordination, including HVAC systems, kitchen exhaust and air treatment systems for restaurants, plumbing, electrical layouts, and fire/life safety systems
• Evaluating general arrangement drawings, material specifications, and construction details for accuracy and compliance
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders, project managers, and external consultants to streamline the design approval process
• Monitoring adherence to timelines and ensuring timely approvals or rejections with detailed commentary
• Supporting continuous improvement of design guidelines and approval processes
