The Architectural Technical Manager oversees the technical quality, coordination, and delivery of architectural projects. They ensure that all designs meet code requirements, project standards, and client expectations while leading the technical team and supporting project managers, designers, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Leadership & Quality Control
- Lead the development of architectural technical packages (drawings, details, specifications).
- Review and approve all project documentation to ensure accuracy, compliance, and constructability.
- Establish and maintain technical standards, design guidelines, and QA/QC procedures within the department.
- Provide solutions for complex technical issues and support teams during design and execution phases.
2. Project Coordination
- Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, interior design, and landscape teams to ensure full integration of disciplines.
- Support project managers with technical direction, timelines, and deliverable planning.
- Ensure all project submissions comply with local codes, authority regulations, and international standards when applicable.
3. Team Management & Development
- Supervise technical architects, draftsmen, and BIM teams.
- Conduct technical training, mentor junior staff, and support professional development.
- Assign workloads, monitor productivity, and ensure timely delivery of all technical outputs.
4. Client & Stakeholder Interface
- Attend meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors to address technical matters.
- Present technical solutions, resolve conflicts, and provide recommendations for improvement.
- Support business development with technical insights and resource planning when required.
5. Construction Support
- Provide technical support during site execution stages.
- Review shop drawings, material submittals, and RFIs, and approve contractor technical documentation.
- Conduct site visits when necessary to ensure design intent and technical accuracy are maintained.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- 10+ years of experience in architectural design and technical delivery, with at least 35 years in a managerial or senior technical role.
- Strong experience in large-scale residential, commercial, or mixed-use projects.
- Expert knowledge of building codes, authority regulations, and industry best practices.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit/BIM, and technical detailing software.
- Strong understanding of materials, construction methods, and coordination principles.
- Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under pressure and tight deadlines.
