About This Role
The
Area Manager I conducts activities which have preparatory or auxiliary character for the purpose of developing Hunter's business in an assigned territory. Collects communicates information pertinent to business progress with the regional team and next level managers. Their focus includes training, education and specification to contractors, distributors, designers, and government agencies.

Essential Job Functions/Tasks
- Takes action to maximize Hunter's exposure and success. Facilitates demand for Hunter products at a variety of levels to assist in achieving distribution goals.
- Acting as local intermediary, may recommend distribution changes as necessary and informs management of events, territory occurrences, and other pertinent information. May alert management of potential customer credit problems and may recommend credit line adjustments.
- Has individual budget available in order to achieve business goals. Manages expenditures within budget, saving money whenever possible and seeking approval for items or events outside of allocated budget.
- Executes customer training programs, trade shows, and promotional events in assigned territory.
- Supports the development of relationships with irrigation consultants, landscape architects, municipalities and local government agencies and visits to explain Hunter products and features for specification on projects.
- Directs field service and support as required. May advise on warranty policies and procedures in line with company policy.
- Assists in collecting data for forecasts and market data reports as required.
- Travels as needed to accomplish goals.
Education/Training Required And Preferred
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent four-year degree in business administration, marketing, landscape architecture or 5 years equivalent-industry and technical experience
Experience Required And Preferred
- Minimum of five years of professional business management, installation, or technical support experience within the irrigation industry.
What You Bring
- Knowledge of commercial channels, pricing, marketing, and distribution models within the industry. Effective specification and presentation skills, with the demonstrated ability to attain goals. Ability to explain the features and benefits of Hunter products. Ability to conduct training and educational programs.
- Technical knowledge of company and competitor products. Ability to perform field service, troubleshoot irrigation systems, and recommend solutions.
- Knowledge of finance and budgeting processes. Ability to prepare budgets and manage expenses within budget.
- Effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills in English or regional languages. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships and to provide a high level of customer service and support.
- Willingness to travel extensively, live in a strategic location within the territory, and work flexible hours.
- Basic computer skills with ability to use Windows programs and to perform word processing, spreadsheet, and database management on a personal computer.
- Valid driver's license and driving record sufficient to meet requirements to be insured by company. Must have or be able to obtain a valid passport.
- Fluency in languages commonly spoken within the region. Knowledge of regional business and cultural practices.
- Irrigation Association (IA) Level II certification with additional Level III certifications is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail, time management and organizational skills.
