The Role We are seeking an Assistant Cost Manager to join our Project & Development Services team in Egypt in a site-based project located in Sheikh Zayed City. This role provides essential support to cost and commercial leadership in delivering comprehensive pre- and post-contract services across diverse construction projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in project budget management, commercial administration, and contract oversight throughout the project.
What This Job Involves
- Provide comprehensive support to cost and commercial leadership in delivering pre- and post-contract services
- Manage and maintain accurate project budgets throughout project lifecycles
- Take detailed commercial meeting minutes and maintain project documentation
- Utilize CostX, Excel, and Microsoft Office programs to advanced proficiency levels
- Review detailed measurements and sections of Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for accuracy
- Provide input into value engineering initiatives during construction
- Execute strong contract administration practices and procedures
- Conduct site walks with project teams to assess progress and identify issues
- Prepare comprehensive cash flow reports and financial projections
- Draft monthly payment recommendations based on project progress
- Create and maintain weekly commercial dashboards for stakeholder reporting
- Manage project variations including assessment, documentation, and approval processes
- Assist in project closeout procedures and resolution of claims and variations
Desired Skills And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- 3-5 years of experience in cost management, quantity surveying, or commercial management
- Advanced proficiency in CostX software for cost planning and measurement
- Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Strong understanding of construction contracts
- Experience with post-contract (administration, variations) activities and
- Experience with pre-contract would be advantageous
- Solid knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Attention to detail with ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience with Egyptian construction market practices and regulations preferred
- Professional membership or working toward chartered status (RICS, AACE, etc.) advantageous
- Ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary project teams
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications
