The Assistant Manager Data protection role is to anticipate and identify data privacy risks, and initiate corrective action where necessary, to protect the interests of the Group.
Identifying and supporting the development of strategy, policies, systems, procedures and controls in the context of privacy controls and regulations in the markets in which the Group operates. Participate in the development and maintenance of a strong culture of service excellence.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Supporting the DPO in all functions of the Data Privacy Office
- Provide advice and guidance on data privacy across the business functions
- Manage and respond to internal and external, requests and queries including a variety of reporting requirements
- Manage the data breach procedure and reach a decision accordingly
- Responsible for conducting Data Protection Impact Assessments as required from all business functions
- Provide additional support and oversight for business aligned teams in relation to Privacy and GDPR and other jurisdictional requirements
- Work in partnership with wider assurance and oversight teams to ensure our data privacy Risk and Control estate is in alignment with internal risk management, compliance and governance frameworks and industry best practice. Input into the management of data protection and data privacy issues, including supporting the DPO with the relationship with relevant data protection authorities and other regulators
- Maintaining excellent relationships with business colleagues including establishment and execution of a relationship plan
- Assist in the creation of a comprehensive periodic report on material pending, on-going and new projects, matters and risks within the Data Privacy Office team.
- Maintain accountability for projects as agreed with Group Data Privacy Officer and ensure timely and effective delivery of all projects
- Drive and support the establishment of a strong service and quality-oriented culture within the group data privacy office and Group Legal
Required Qualifications:
- Direct experience of privacy and data protection laws and practices within a financial services environment
- Proven experience of providing advice on complex and technical areas of compliance regulation
- Experience of maintaining key documents such as plans, strategies, risk registers and briefings
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office
- Strong oral and written English, Arabic is a plus
- Developed presentation and reporting experience
- Good knowledge of the banking industry
- Ability to analyse and interpret simple information
- Ability to work on own initiative and effectively with a variety of stakeholders
- Ability to balance commercial and compliance considerations for the bank
