We are looking to hire an Assistant Manager - General Ledger who will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations related to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial reporting. The role supports month-end and year-end closing activities, oversees reconciliation processes, and ensures adherence to accounting standards and internal controls for our client-based in Dubai- which is one of the largest companies in the region.
This position is a contract role with an initial duration of 6 months and is renewable based on performance.
The role sits within the Finance Department and reports directly to the Associate Director of Finance.
Key responsibilities:
- Oversee and maintain the accuracy of the general ledger, including reviewing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
- Monitor ledger activities to ensure compliance with company policies and IFRS/GAAP standards.
- Ensure proper classification of accounts and review chart of accounts periodically.
- Lead month-end closing activities, ensuring deadlines are met and entries are properly recorded.
- Prepare and review financial statements, schedules, and supporting documents.
- Assist in year-end close processes, audit preparation, and coordination with external auditors.
- Oversee and review balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, intercompany, accruals, prepayments, and other GL accounts.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.
- Provide variance analysis and commentary on financial performance.
- Support budgeting and forecasting exercises with GL-related data.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA, ACCA, ACA or equivalent qualification is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in General Ledger, preferably within a
- multinational organization or a public accounting firm.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and other relevant accounting standards.
- Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems.
- Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
