Assistant Professor in Human Nutrition and Dietetics

Brief Job Description:

The College of Health Sciences (CoHS) at Abu Dhabi University (ADU) invites outstanding candidates to apply for the full-time faculty position in Human Nutrition and Dietetics at the level of Assistant.

The starting date of the appointment is February 10, 2026. The successful candidate will be involved in teaching and developing undergraduate level courses, contributing to research within ADU and abroad, and supervising students in their practicum.

The CoHS offers BSc. in Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Laboratory Medicine, Molecular and Medical Genetics, Environmental Health and Safety, Public Health and Clinical Psychology and Mental Health. And Masters in Public Health and in Clinical Psychology and Mental Health. There are opportunities for multidisciplinary inter-college collaborative research across ADU, and inter-institutional research collaborations in the Abu Dhabi area and U.A.E.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Teach undergraduate courses to students in the Human Nutrition and Dietetics (HND) Program such as Medical Nutrition Therapy, Nutrition Assessment, Dietetics in Disease Prevention and Management, Sport Nutrition, Pediatric Nutrition, Food Processing, Nutrition and Immunity, etc. May teach graduate level courses once the graduate program is opened.
  2. Participate in conducting research and other scholarly activities in the areas of dietetics, clinical nutrition, food science etc.
  3. Advance and disseminate knowledge through publication in appropriate refereed journals
  4. Advice, mentor, and evaluate undergraduate seminars, tutorials, and student research projects
  5. Plan hands-on activities within didactic courses to fulfill clinical nutrition-related knowledge and competencies such as case studies, role-playing techniques, simulations, group discussions, and projects
  6. Perform ongoing review of curriculum and practicum activities to meet the accreditation standards
  7. Facilitate continuous assessment of the program - both didactic and practicum - and student learning outcomes
  8. Develop and maintain awareness on clinical nutrition and dietetics topics in the UAE community
  9. Function as an active member of the college and university faculty through the participation in academic and professional services
  10. Engage in national and international professional activities

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Use strategies and skills necessary to support student learning and prepare and delivers current and relevant course material in an understandable and motivating manner
  2. Continually assess course objectives and instructional methods to improve teaching and learning
  3. Use formative and summative assessments of student learning within assigned courses to inform instruction and improve student attainment of course objectives and program outcomes
  4. Demonstrate a familiarity with a variety of instructional delivery methods, including digital platforms, group activities, and portfolios to provide educational content and opportunities supported by evidence-based research and individual expertise
  5. Demonstrate a familiarity with Blackboard and other learning management systems
  6. Prepare comprehensive course syllabus, to include approved student learning objectives/outcome evaluation form
  7. Work collaboratively with the program faculty, affiliated sites, and other academic units, as well as government agencies to effectively address Abu Dhabi and national program priorities related dietetics and clinical nutrition.
  8. Be familiar with the ACEND accreditation standards and ensure with other faculty and administrators that they met
  9. Teach courses for the BSc program in Human Nutrition and Dietetics
  10. Direct student's research and conduct research in collaboration with others
  11. Perform student academic advisement, hold office hours, and provide support to students with regard to program choices and career possibilities
  12. Support ADU's outcomes initiatives by working to refine and revise course assignments and evaluation tools and participating in data analysis discussions to make program and course improvements
  13. Facilitate development and revision of curricula and courses, assuring alignment within the program description and outcomes, course objectives and content, as well as university/Commission for Academic Accreditation curriculum standards
  14. Attend commencement, faculty meetings, department meetings, committee meetings, professional development programs, and other university events, as applicable

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. PhD in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from an internationally accredited university, preferably from top 200 universities as per the QS World University Rankings 2022
  2. Minimum of 3 years of teaching
  3. Proven record of teaching, program planning, and problem-solving skills
  4. A record of peer-reviewed publications, as judged by h-index (10 for Assistant Professor, 15 for Associate Professor, and 25 for Professor).
  5. Familiarity with and adherence to ACEND accreditation standards
  6. Familiarity with or ability to become familiar with the grant university system and its mission on academic excellence and community outreach
  7. Strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills
