AutoCAD Design Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB PURPOSE:

The AutoCAD Engineer is responsible for the creation and technical governance of high-precision drawings for Project Stargate, a GW-scale AI data center campus. The primary objective is to develop detailed 2D and 3D designs that integrate high-density AI infrastructureincluding advanced liquid cooling systems and complex power distribution networks. Reporting to the Director - Design & Planning, the role ensures that all spatial designs optimize the coordination between structural, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure.

RESPONSIBILITIES

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (Description)

Drafting and Design: Utilize AutoCAD software to create 2D and 3D models, drawings, and schematics based on project requirements, engineering principles, and industry standards.

Imposing the design on nominated plots by business to confirm the suitability. Proposing options to modify the existing design to fit the plot and maximize the total IT power output area.

Full knowledge of GFA and built-up areas calculation and reporting.

Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including engineering plans, blueprints, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM), ensuring accuracy and completeness.

Collaboration: Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, to understand project objectives, discuss design specifications, and provide technical input.

Design Optimization: Review and analyze existing designs for potential improvements, cost-effectiveness, and feasibility. Propose modifications and enhancements to optimize the design process and ensure compliance with regulations and standards.

Quality Assurance: Perform thorough quality checks on drawings and designs to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to project requirements. Resolve any discrepancies or issues identified during the review process.

Communication: Effectively communicate technical information and design concepts within the team and the project stakeholders, both verbally and through documentation.

Software Proficiency: Stay updated with the latest AutoCAD software capabilities and features. Utilize advanced AutoCAD tools and functions to streamline the drafting and design process and improve efficiency.

Standards and Compliance: Maintain knowledge of relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations to ensure compliance with safety guidelines and project requirements.

Develop and maintain a standardized library of CAD blocks and templates to ensure uniformity and speed across all project submittals.

Coordinate equipment layouts (UPS, switchgear, CRAC units) with electrical and mechanical engineers to ensure compliance with clearance requirements and maintenance access zones.

Draft detailed cable containment and pathway layouts, ensuring proper segregation of high-voltage and low-voltage services.

Manage a rigorous version control and document management process to ensure stakeholders always access the latest Issued for Construction (IFC) drawings.

Incorporate field redline markups into final As-Built drawings to ensure the Digital Twin accurately reflects the physical installation.

Implement AutoCAD scripts or LISP routines to automate repetitive tasks, such as GFA calculations or the generation of cable schedules.

Continuous Improvement

Participate in identifying opportunities for continuous design improvement to enhance cost-efficiency and buildability.

Footprint Optimization: Evaluate design methodologies to reduce the physical footprint of support infrastructure, maximizing the density of AI white space.

Efficiency Drafting: Support sustainability goals by drafting layouts that optimize airflow and liquid cooling distribution to meet target Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE).

Generative Design Support: Assist in exploring AI-assisted drafting tools to automate the optimization of cable tray routing and high-density piping paths.

QUALIFICATIONS

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture, or a related field.

Proven experience working as an AutoCAD Engineer or similar role.

Valid UAE driving license.

Job-Specific Skills (Generic / Technical):

Proficiency in English

Proficiency in AutoCAD software and its various tools, functions, and commands.

Strong understanding of engineering principles, design standards, and drafting techniques.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in producing technical drawings and designs.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

Knowledge of relevant industry codes, regulations, and safety guidelines.

Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate and interact with multidisciplinary teams.

Problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve design issues.

Time management and organizational skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
