Job Description

About The Role

We're building next-generation AI systems for aviation and autonomous flight — and we need people who speak the language of the skies. If you can tell a squawk code from a go-around instruction, this role was made for you.

As an Aviation Communications Transcriber, you'll work with real-world Air Traffic Control (ATC) and pilot audio recordings, producing high-quality transcriptions that directly train AI systems used in aviation safety and autonomy. This is specialized, meaningful work at the intersection of aviation expertise and cutting-edge AI development.

  • Organization: Alignerr (Powered by Labelbox)
  • Type: Hourly / Task-Based Contract
  • Location: Remote
  • Commitment: 10–40 hours/week

What You'll Do

  • Transcribe real-world ATC ↔ pilot audio recordings with precision
  • Label speakers, callsigns, clearances, instructions, and read-backs accurately
  • Capture aviation-specific terminology, abbreviations, and standard phraseology
  • Work on task-based assignments at your own pace and schedule
  • Consistently meet quality and accuracy standards critical to AI training integrity

Who You Are

  • A pilot, student pilot, Air Traffic Controller, dispatcher, or aviation professional
  • An aviation enthusiast with a strong working knowledge of radio communications
  • Someone who understands ICAO/FAA phraseology and can parse fast, noisy radio audio
  • Extremely detail-oriented with patience for careful audio work
  • Reliable and self-motivated — you take accuracy seriously

You don't need to be a professional transcriptionist. You do need to understand aviation communications at a genuine level.

Nice to Have

  • Experience flying or controlling in busy airspace environments
  • Familiarity with LiveATC or similar ATC audio resources
  • Background in aviation safety, operations, or training

Why Join Us

  • Work on cutting-edge AI projects shaping the future of aviation and autonomous flight
  • Fully remote and flexible — complete tasks on your own schedule
  • Freelance perks: autonomy, variety, and global collaboration
  • High-quality contributors receive priority access to more work and top-tier task assignments
  • Contribute to AI systems with real-world aviation safety implications
  • Potential for ongoing work and contract extension
