Job Description

Summary

The BIM Engineer (Electrical/Mechanical) is responsible for developing and managing detailed BIM models for MEP systems to support design, coordination, and construction phases. This role ensures that models comply with project standards, reflect accurate engineering data, and support efficient coordination between all disciplines. The BIM Engineer works closely with design teams, consultants, contractors, and site teams to deliver high-quality, clash-free, and fully coordinated models and drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain highly detailed 3D BIM models for Electrical or Mechanical systems using Revit MEP.
  • Produce coordinated shop drawings, installation drawings, and as-built drawings as per project requirements.
  • Ensure models meet project LOD (Level of Development) standards and BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
  • Perform clash detection using Navisworks and address coordination issues with relevant disciplines.
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other MEP teams to ensure smooth model integration.
  • Attend coordination meetings and provide technical inputs for resolving model conflicts.
  • Review design documents, specifications, and consultant drawings for consistency and accuracy.
  • Adhere to company BIM standards, templates, and protocols for modeling and documentation.
  • Conduct model audits to maintain quality and prevent errors during design and construction.
  • Provide updated BIM models and drawings to site teams for installation and execution.
  • Support the engineering team by generating quantity take-offs and material lists from BIM models.
  • Assist in preparing RFI (Request for Information) related to model or design discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with BIM Manager and BIM Lead to ensure project deliverables are on schedule.
  • Integrate model updates based on design revisions, site changes, and consultant comments.
  • Generate coordinated sections, elevations, and detailed views for construction and supervision teams.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering / Mechanical Engineering
  • 25 years of experience in BIM modeling for MEP systems in construction or consultancy firms.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Revit MEP (mandatory).
  • Experience with Navisworks Manage for clash detection (mandatory).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, BIM 360, and other BIM collaboration platforms.
  • Solid understanding of MEP systems:
  • Electrical: power, lighting, ELV, cable routing, load schedules
  • Mechanical: HVAC, ducting, piping, equipment layou
