General Description
The Business Development Manager is responsible for driving sustainable and profitable business growth within Qatar. The role requires broad and in-depth knowledge of the company's services, policies, procedures, and market positioning within the Industrial Services portfolio.
With a moderate degree of autonomy, the position focuses on local market development, client relationship management, opportunity identification, and close coordination with operations and technical teams to secure and deliver profitable projects. The role ensures alignment between country-level commercial priorities and the overall Business Unit strategy, supporting growth across all Industrial Services service lines.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Execution:
- Identify, screen, and develop new sales opportunities within Qatar.
- Manage the end-to-end country-level sales process, including opportunity qualification, business case development, pursuit planning, tender submissions, pricing inputs, and post-award commercial coordination.
- Drive revenue growth in line with country and BU targets.
Client Relationship Management
- Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with local NOCs, IOCs, EPC contractors, industrial clients, municipalities, and other key stakeholders.
- Act as the primary customer interface within Qatar, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Capture and communicate customer requirements, feedback, and upcoming opportunities to the Business Unit.
Market Awareness & Strategy
- Monitor local market trends, competitive activity, regulatory developments, and customer pipelines.
- Provide timely market intelligence to support BU forecasting, strategic planning, and decision-making.
Sales Coordination & Reporting
- Prepare country-level sales forecasts and maintain accurate opportunity tracking in CRM systems.
- Deliver regular reports on KPIs, win rates, pipeline status, and progress to the Country Operations Manager and Senior Business Development Manager.
Tendering & Negotiation
- Support the preparation of technical and commercial proposals in coordination with internal stakeholders.
- Align bid strategies, pricing, and Capex requirements for new projects.
- Prepare presentation materials and lead management reviews for high-value competitive bid packages.
- Coordinate with supply chain, engineering, and operations teams to develop competitive offers.
- Participate in contract negotiations within delegated authority.
Internal Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with operations, project management, engineering, QHSE, and finance teams to ensure customer requirements are translated into deliverable and profitable solutions.
- Ensure smooth handover of awarded projects to operations and support execution of upsell and growth plans.
Coaching & Mentoring
- Support the development of junior sales and business development personnel through coaching, guidance, and on-the-job learning.
- Contribute to building commercial capability, best practices, and succession planning within the country team.
Brand & Relationship Building
- Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
- Support brand visibility and positioning initiatives within Qatar.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure compliance with corporate policies, pricing guidelines, approval matrices, and contract governance procedures.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date sales documentation, CRM records, and reports.
- Conduct any other tasks or projects assigned by the direct line manager.
Qualification Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business Administration, Science (STEM), or a related discipline.
- Postgraduate degree or professional certification is considered an asset.
- 510+ years of experience in the energy or industrial services sector.
- Combination of experience in operations, engineering, and sales/business development roles is preferred.
- Strong local market knowledge and established customer relationships are an advantage.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Solid commercial awareness and customer engagement capabilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Proactive, well-organized, and capable of delivering results in a fast-paced environment.
- Good computer proficiency with the ability to prepare professional reports and presentations.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driving license
- Expected to travel 25% for this role.
- Good verbal & written communication skills in English language.
- Ability to work independently and complete tasks on time.
