Job Description

The Buyer Beauty Department is responsible for sourcing, selecting, and purchasing beauty products that align with the company's brand strategy, customer demand, and sales targets. The role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating pricing and terms, monitoring market trends, and ensuring optimal product assortment to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Product Sourcing & Selection

  • Identify and select beauty products and brands that align with the company's target market and brand positioning.
  • Develop and maintain a balanced assortment across skincare, makeup, fragrance, haircare, and beauty tools.
  • Monitor industry trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to make informed buying decisions.

Vendor & Brand Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with beauty brands, suppliers, and distributors.
  • Evaluate vendor performance based on sales, quality, delivery timelines, and commercial terms.
  • Negotiate pricing, promotional support, payment terms, and exclusivity agreements.

Inventory & Stock Management

  • Monitor stock levels and sales performance to ensure optimal inventory levels.
  • Plan purchase orders to avoid stockouts and minimize excess inventory.
  • Work closely with supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure timely product availability.

Pricing & Margin Management

  • Analyze cost structures and set pricing strategies to meet margin targets.
  • Review product performance and adjust assortment to maximize profitability.

Sales & Performance Analysis

  • Track product performance, sales trends, and KPIs.
  • Use data and reports to optimize product mix and identify growth opportunities.
  • Recommend promotions and markdown strategies where needed.

Cross-Department Collaboration

  • Collaborate with marketing teams on product launches, campaigns, and promotional activities.
  • Coordinate with merchandising and e-commerce teams for product placement and visibility.
  • Support visual merchandising strategies for beauty categories.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Retail Management, or related field.
  • 35+ years of experience in buying, merchandising, or procurement, preferably in beauty, cosmetics, or retail.
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills.
  • Excellent analytical and forecasting abilities.
  • Strong understanding of beauty industry trends and consumer behavior.
  • Proficiency in Excel and retail management systems.
