About the Role
Responsible for preparing technical drawings and plans using CAD software, to support engineers, architects, and designers by translating concepts and sketches into precise drawings.
Responsibilities
- Produce precise and professional CAD drawings for 380kV substation projects based on engineers designs and specifications.
- Ensure all CAD work follows project CAD standards, utility requirements (e.g., SEC/NG), and international drafting guidelines.
- Develop electrical drawings such as single line diagrams (SLDs), general arrangements (GAs), grounding, cabling, and control schematics.
- Maintain and update drawing files, project documentation, and revisions.
- Prepare drawing lists, legends, and title blocks for easy reference.
- Organize and archive completed drawings for future use.
- Work closely with engineers, architects, project managers, and other team members.
- Coordinate with different departments to incorporate necessary design changes.
- Attend project meetings to understand drawing requirements and updates.
- Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and visualizations.
- Provide design support during construction or manufacturing.
- Troubleshoot CAD-related issues and assist colleagues with CAD tools.
- Check and review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
- Ensure adherence to building codes, engineering principles, and safety regulations.
- Correct and modify drawings based on feedback or redlines.
Qualifications
- At least Vocational/Technical Course Certificate in Drafting Technology, CAD, or related field.
- Preferably a Diploma or bachelor's degree in architecture, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Understanding of high-voltage equipment arrangements (GIS/AIS, transformers, breakers, CTs/PTs, etc.).
- Specialized training or certification in AutoCAD (2D/3D), MicroStation, or other CAD software.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MicroStation, or equivalent CAD platforms.
- Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and practices relevant to architecture, engineering, or construction.
Required Skills
- 1 – 3 years of CAD drafting experience in electrical substation projects.
- Hands-on experience in preparing drawings for EHV/HV substations (380kV / 230kV / 132kV systems).
- Work background with Saudi Electricity is an advantage.
- Experience in drafting layouts: SLDs, GA layouts, grounding, cable routing, trenching, and equipment foundations.
