Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for Cargo Ballast Officer, based in Africa. Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling all marine dedicated systems on board
  • Maintain vessel stability, trim, and structural limits through safe ballast operations during all cargo transfer activities.
  • Operate and control the cargo offloading and ballast systems for LNG, LPG, and condensate in accordance with the approved cargo offloading plan and operating procedures.
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of all associated utility systems supporting cargo offloading and ballast operations.
  • Coordinate closely with marine, cargo, and mooring personnel to ensure the safe execution of offloading operations.
  • Respond to operational emergencies, ensuring compliance with company procedures, class, flag, and international regulations.

Qualifications

  • Class 1 Deck Officer Certificate of Competency (CoC).
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience in cargo transfer and ballast operations & handling FLNG/LNG/FSU/FPSO projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in LNG/LPG and oil cargo handling during ship-to-ship (STS) transfer operations in offshore or exposed marine environments.
  • Demonstrated experience operating Marine or Cargo DCS systems.
  • Good knowledge of international marine regulations and industry standards.
  • Personal commitment to work in compliance with IMS policy, HSE, Work ethics, Progress
